Default timing belt @ 89,000 miles...

Ok, my car has roughly 89,000 miles on it and I think it has the original timing belt, is there a way to tell? Are there signs to look for to see if it needs to be replaced or should I just have it replaced by the mileage? Next question, how much would a timing belt and labor run me? I know different areas will have different prices, but I just want a ballpark. Thanks!

im pretty sure thats long overdue for a change, and even if not, change it anyways.

get some wrench time and DIY. its not that hard. search for timing belt how to's w/ pictures, and you will be set.
