What 6 speed? There was no 6 speed transmission for the Accord at teh time. And no manual transmission for the V6.

Actually the reason they didn't make the V6 Accords available with standard transmissions is because they felt that it would take away from the sales of the then current "sportier model" Prelude.

As pricey as it (the prelude) was, having the v6 accord available in manual transmission would have cuased the Prelude's sales to dwindle even more.

I was at Maple Grove raceway at one event about 2 years ago when Honda was there with 2 3.0liter cars. One like 98 CL 3.0 and one lx v6 accord 3.0. Just like the Bseries where you can swap parts in and out you can do the same for the 3.0 and 3.2. They were using 3.2 type S pistons in the 3.0 and made changes to the intake manifold etc. The guys doing this were their development team. They had access to any honda part but weren't allowed to actually spend money. Everything had to be done by themselves. So they were like Honda Hybriders. they had an accord coupe running 14.7's or so with just parts swapping and ecu swapping. I'll see if i can find an old photo of thier car out there.

that would be true if the 6sp came out in 01 CL-S, but it didn't come to 02 which was already after lude production. the 6th gen coupe 6sp would not have been a contender anyways with a lude anyways unless suspension and styling was addressed making it more sporty.

it was probably more to do with first seeing how the 6sp CL-S sold and then seeing how the tranny held held. honda would not put a new tranny in the last model year of a car, they would save it for the next.

Jimmyrecluse, a member on V6performance.net, is in the process of installing the MT 6spd on his Accord.

Right. But aren't you referring to the "tip-tronic" transmission?
If not then my mistake.

Accord V6's have an optional 6 speed... I'm guessing its the one form the 3.2 Type S

Edit: ****... sorry, I never noticed the years you were talking about (98-02)

So basically the question is ..........does the 6 speed CL typeS bolt up to the 98-02 Honda Accord V6? Are they the same engine series (ie. B-series, D-series, H-series, K-series, F-series), those two cars that is?

Has anyone done this?

Ok, so I see that the swap has been done.

This leads me to believe that not very many people are doing this swap for some reason or another.

Cost?
Modification?
Time Consumption?
Reliability of transmission?

Is there any place on the internet that does these things on a regular basis and has a kit that you made need to make the swap possible. Or is this just something that only a few guys have done yet, but there will probablly be alot more in the future.

read up on v6performance.net

the problem is not if it bolts up (it does) its getting the engine to respond to a manual tranny (the ECU).

Jalopnik nade a write up on the 6 speed swap. Like Ucb said, the ECU compatability is going to be your problem. Im planning on doing one of these swaps in the future If I can get my hands on a 6 speed tranny and ECU. I knoe where I can get a J32 from a wrecked 01 CL.
