ok recently i bought the JDM DC 5 Type R ecu for my RSX Type S.. b/c i was told it would work... i admit im not a gear head just yet so i really dont know what to do but slap it on and see if it works... is there anything else that i would have to do in order for it to work?

this is what i did...

disconnected the battery
took off the stock ecu
installed the new ecu
connected the battery
and tried to start it

the first attempt let me run for about one second and then it would die
and all the other attempt wouldnt even start
so obviously i have to do something else or the ecu is no good

if you know what to do please help me out!

you can't just swap in the ECU like that!!! you are better off getting the Hondata K20a flash.......

 

ok ... why cant i just swap it like that?

our cars have immoblizers and you have to get the dealership to change the immoblizer code it if you want the jdm ecu to work. Otherwise get the ecu upgrade

jap cars dont have immoblizers

 

The JDM ECU is designed for the Japanese integra with different cams and compression ratio.

Not only does the Hondata flash outperform the JDM ECU on the RSX-S, it outperforms the JDM ECU on the JDM engine.

Yeah, not the best investment in an RSX-S. Like he said: it's designed for the JDM engine. Even if it came from the same exact engine from Japan (which of course doesn't exist)... no immobilizer.

Oh, there's no "JDM ECU on the RSX-S" but I assume that's a typo and you meant RSX-R.

EDIT: The JDM RSX-R ECU doesn't allow the car to go over 110MPH by the way.

 

Sucks that you bought the Type R ecu already. You should have asked before you bought it.

 

Like it was stated before the DC5R ecu would not work for our type S.
In japan the Integra type R's (RSX) do not come with the immobilizer.( I have no idea why they did not come with it, because so far it is helping us keep our cars.)

So what happens when we install the DC5R ecu into our cars is that it reads the immobilizer and does not find one. So the ecu then cuts the fuel and reads the immobilizer as an error and the car cuts the fuel off as a safety mode.

There have been a few people on http://www.clubrsx.com that purchased the DC5R ecu and made it work with some custom stuff. If you would like go there and do a search there. Good luck bro.

and how much does that cost.

ps the guy that i bought it from, on eBay, said it would work
