Thinking of getting a prelude, 92-95??
Hey, I'm a little new to preludes - and I've been dreaming of them like my whole life... I finally got a couple bucks together cuz my hatch is gonna get me some insurance money, then I'm gonna sell it and get a little more... with all this said and done I got about $3500 spending money
I was just looking for a little advice on what to look for and what to stay away from
When the preludes are labeled as Si's, what's the difference between them and the regular ones? What motors come in what? I noticed some have H23's other have H22's
What type of gas milage does each of the motors get? I'm used to getting 30 mpg / city! But with lack of low end power, it sucks
Sorry for all the newbie questions, just looking for a little advice
TIA

I just hit the 30 mpg make on my 1992 Si. Before I would always get 28-29mpg. And that is even with a little spirited driving too.
Si ludes have h23s, the other 2 are the base model and the vtec model, which both have h22 motors in them, but one is a non vtec SOHC and the other is DOHC vtec. basically the hp progression is: base < si < vtec im currently getting about 23-25 mpg on mine but thats w/ ac blasting and racing for a good part of the time... on another note i think the Si is the only one that comes w/ 4ws which is the rox....all 3 are reliable and the upper 2 at least are reasonably fast...dont expect the quickest thing on the road, but youll have a nice fast good looking great handling fuel efficient car with more than enough in the high end and a decent low end....i say its better than that hatch any day of the week
Yeah the Base or S has the f engine. If you have about $3,500 to spend you could prolly hunt down a 92-93 Si. I am assuming you wouldn't buy an Auto....
Bes I have ever got for MPG was around 26-28 in my 92 Si4WS. If you keep the speed on the highway slow you will get better millage seeing as how at 80 I'm at about 4k RPM's

alright so let's get this right, the advantage of 92-95 Si's (is this even the proper gen I'm talking?) is the 4ws? Why are the Si's stuck with the H23 if the h22 VTEC puts out more power? And the ones with the F22, would an H22 swap bolt right in or would it require special mounts / lots of rewiring?
I'm not expecting the car to be the fastest on the road, but I know it will be the best looking on the road
Definately getting a 5 speed, even though majority of the Si's I have seen on autotrader have been auto's

i believe the last year for the 4ws was '94. but i'm not too sure aboutthat. what do you mean why are the si's stuck with the h23? it was an option that honda gave out for people that wanted something between 135-195. *shrug*
and yes there have been h22 swaps into a f22. also h22 onto a h23. there have been thousands of responses about these swaps...and if you use the search function i'm positive that 90% of your questions will be answered.
prelude's imo aren't made to be drag cars...if you want something that's fast and has real potential to be phenominal in the straight line and curves, then you're probably better off starting off with a different platform. but since you said that you're not expecting the car to be the fastest, but the best looking, then you got good taste and be patient to find the one you want.

Thanks for the info</TD></TR></TABLE>
In my opinion NO....worry more about getting a 5-speed and a decent engine (H23 or H22).
I've heard conflicting things about 4ws - I hear it mostly beneficial at slow speeds...like parking lot/driveway maneuvering is the impression I get (I could be wrong).
