Default Not so great times – any ideas, advice?

Took my 98 EJ to the 1/4 mile. I had short ram intake, header, exhaust, 15" wheels (which aren't too lightweight), short shifter (5-speed, duh). I know it's not a dragster, but I just wanted to see what my daily driver would do.

My best was 16.9@84. 60' were around 2.5.

I was launching around 4500. I ran only 4 times because I figured I wasn't going to much faster than 16.9 anyway (I did miss 3rd, though). Even so, I can't imagine I would've done much better. I've drag raced cars before, just not a Civic and it seems really touchy to launch, do to the low amount of torque. I was kinda hoping for 15.7 at least, but 16.9 was a real dissappointment. Any adivce (and don't suggest getting a swap or another car – I just wanted to see my my EX could do)?

Really? My friend's 97 LX with the same mods ran 16.1! He had 14" steelies and not cat (whether that'd make a diff, I don't know).
