sleeves and pistons. machining?
Is machining necessary when installing iron sleeves and pistons into a closed deck H22A? After installing sleeves is honing a must or do they come ready to go? There is some pics of some fresh block setups here somewhere with iron sleeves and forged pistons - can anyone guide me to this topic? Thanks.
if you have a closed deck H22A, why would you need to resleeve it? you have major plans in the works? the sleeves are supposedly meant to attack the weaknesses of the open deck H22s, correct me if i'm wrong guys.
if you are going to run any large amount of boost or run a big nitirous shot or even if you want to make some na power it is a good idea to sleve the block in order to run forged pistons. and the reason you need to run forged pistons is becaseu the stock prelude pistons have weak ring lnadings, and FRM + forged pistons do not mix well so you need sleaves. and as far as i know you need to hone and even maybe bore your sleaves to reach the desired specs of you engine build.
not this again........... there are 100,000 posts all about this........... please search...... and to install any re-sleeve you have to bore out all old sleeve material.... only a machine shop can do this
