Default NASA at BeaveRun

Does anybody know if the August 30th/31st NASA-OH race at BeaveRun is a MWHC race? I'm thinking about going, and if I know it is a Honda Challenge race, I'll be a lot more tempted. Anyone?

No, I'm not planning on going to Lowe's. It's just too far to travel for a roval, and the risk to the car is too great to justify if I don't like rovals. If I was in the middle of a fight for a championship I would do it. Since I am not, I would rather get more track time on the new car on a real roadcourse. Besides, it will be fun to mix it up a little with the Mid West boys since I wasn't able to race at the last one.

Whats with this "roval" crap? only "roval" i've been to is Nazareth; by "roval" i mean a track with all left turns...

Lowes has a 7 turn infield that you race through; then out onto the main track and around....

similiar to what we do at Pocono, except for the track is about 100 times more exciting/intimidating.... monster monster banks (24 degrees i think!!!!). very high speeds. very high speed entrance into the infield course. definitely not a "roval".

you are missing out on a great track, Matt....

Nazareth is an "oval". Pocono, Lowes, and NHIS are "rovals". It's a combination of Roadcourse and oval.

It might be a great track, but right now it would be reckless of me to race there. I have a car that is making a lot of power, but handles poorly. I have to sort that out before I take on monster bankings. The time on a real roadcourse will do a lot more for me in the long run.

hi Matt.

i think you are using the wrong terminology: check this quote:

"Nazareth: Philly Region will again be taking on the interesting/exciting up-close pit and paddock security work at Nazareth for this year's Pro weekends. The first weekend includes Busch and Featherlite Modifieds on May 17 & 18. The second is three days in August (22-24) when the IRL and USAC teams will bring their close competition to the Nazareth "roval." We will not be holding the large group training sessions as in the past. All information will be passed to you via mail/email as we get closer to the events. We will still need you to sign up to work."

when i raced with EMRA and NASA at Nazareth, it was described to me as a "roval". the term "roval" was used to describe a track which had turns all in the same direction, but all the turns were different. For example, a roval is not a typical super speedway oval; all its turns are different and require different entry, apex, trackout strategy.

Lowes, on the other hand, has a fairly tricky, technical infield section, with both left and right hand turns, plus some small elevation changes. tricky and technical enough that last year, an H4 car with a D16 motor qualified way way up in the pack. he made up all his time entering, driving through, and exiting the infield.

just an FYI

I'm not sure if I'll do all three days, a 100 mile enduro might put a bit more wear on the car than I was planning. Maybe I'll play it by ear....

One of my goals is to burn up this set of tires, they are killing my performance. Not only did they ruin my gearing, they also raise the car by over an inch. Then I had to lift the springs for clearance reasons, and in doing so, lost almost all of my negative camber! I want my low profile tires back!!!

As an additional note to the BeaveRun MWHC event: We will not be enforcing the TOYO tire requirement at this event. Any tire is welcome.

The set of tires that I want to burn up and replace are Toyos....

In Toyo's defense, it isn't that the tire itself is bad, it is that the tire size and my car don't get along, and Toyo currently does not offer a 16" tire with a different rolling circumference. Ryan contacted Toyo on my behalf, and they are looking into producing an alternate 16" size to meet the demand.

Why not run in an HPDE group? They are having HPDE's all 3 days.

And remember, if 8 or more HPDE drivers from H-T sign up for this event, they get 10% Off Their Entry!

BeaveRun is as good a track as any to get your feet wet. Not overly complicated, a variety of turns, good amount of run off room. You will certainly want upgraded brake pads though.
