They don't look any different. Only real difference in the 92's at least is that they all came with dual airbags. I can't find the stats right now. But yest they turn very tight in a parking lot. I like it better all around.

I have a 92 4WS Lude. It is a great feature. I just wish it would work all the time.

on http://www.icelord.net yoy can find a manual for the 4ws, if your system fails just try to replace the main relay or resolder the solder points on it I did and it seems to work ok now

I think they stopped with the last 5 gen Lude (at least in Euro). Don't know about US market.

How the hell did the 4WS almost cause you to crash?? I find it very useful at high speeds. Like if your on the highway and you wana change lanes you can go smoothly and very quickly from lane to lane. Also with the 4WS on I can take exits at much higher speeds than when it is off. You must have to recalibrate your or something.

Isnt the 4WS system only engaged at low speeds? I think the lude just is a nice car to drive, thats why it does things smoothly and quickly from lane to lane.

Also i noticed the weight of the Si and 4WS models are the same. I know that they've gotta be different with that giant setup in the trunk though...not to mention the pivot arms and **** underneath....

+1

They didn't stop producing it , it was available for the 5th gen in Japan, Europe ect except U.S.
My 97 lude has 4WS and I think it is very useful. It's not just for parking or low speeds, it's even more useful for hi speeds.

the 4th gen. owner's manual states that 4ws is engaged at all times. At low speeds both sets of tires turn opposite directions when turning for tight cornering. At high speed both sets turn the same direction so lateral movement is quicker.
but i wouldn't know much more about it because i don't have it. i am using that spot in the fuse box for my amp.

^ correct. Speeds under 17mph wheels turn opposite. Faster they go the same way. Makes less body roll in corners at high speeds. Parking is very easy with it. Well parallel parking is near impossible with it but there is no way to shut it off without yanking the fuse.

The system is not that heavy. I believe it is about 80lbs. Yes some people would say that's a lot but I am not too concerned with weight reduction.

according to My prelude Manuel 4ws at speeds up to 60kph (30mph) the wheels turn opposite from front at over that speed they turn the same way as the front.. I think because when freeway driving it helps giude the car into the other lane??? I dunno

Yeah 4ws is Cool

it also depends on how fast you turn the steering wheel how it reacts, and I think its a cool system.

Sorry, but as a 4WS owner I don't buy this one bit and would like to know why the rearend slid out on you. The only way I would believe this is if the 4WS light was on at the time (meaning, the system wasn't working).

When my 4WS light comes on..my car does behave irratically. But when the system is working..the car handles just as good as any other car at high speeds.

When I wrecked my car the 4ws light was on. And I was only going about 35 mph.

+1 for the Euro with 4WS, my 4th gen (2.3l) has it and all 5th gens VTECs i know have it as well, except for the type SH of course.
On the track the 4WS is fun and useful, it really improves handling in tight corners. On small roads as well.. and of course on parking lots it's a must.

John I was wanting to ask you about that.. So you are saying that the 4ws caused your rear brakes to lock up and spin your car around? I'm not really familar with 4ws but I didn't think it had anything to do with the rear brakes but maybe I'm wrong.

My guess is that. You were trying to show off for some one...got the rear end loose, 4ws ingaged, scared you, you lifted throttle and caused oversteer, then over corrected and wrecked.....but i wasn't there, nor am i buying your story. so tell us what really happened.
