Default What would make the steering wheel shake??

I have warped brakes but everything else drivetrain wise is fine. I was thinking the rack-pinion steering "bar" (can't remember the technical term) could be going. What could I use to diagnose this and see exactly what it is, once and for all.

You have warped brakes, as simple as that.

Thank you much. I wasn't sure but I had to get a second opinion.

Out-of-balance wheels could do it as well. Also shot tie rod ends.

warped brakes would shake if u were going 80 then brake, and then it would shake. u can also take it to a shop to get it measured to see if they are warped. tire balance also a prop, most common is out of round tires, cupping, feathering due to alignment prob. tie rod bushing can also be too worn.(at the end of ur rack and pinnion)

I would have to agree with the top posts. It's your breaks. My accord does the same thing, my pad is slighlyt cracking. Time to change them.

Wheels need to be balanced. When I bought my hatch the wheel shaked when I was going ove 40 mph. Got the wheels balanced and it went away.

its either unbalanced tires or warped rotors.

does it shake when you brake only or jus at high speeds (60+)?
if the car/steering wheel only shakes or vibrates when you depress
the brakes then its rotors. if not check tires uneven wear and then
balance them.
