Hello, I was test driving my cousin's prelude si, 94 model automatic. This car has about 160,000 miles, but the engine is still in good condition. Well, I was driving and it made this racking noises when I turn. Could this be a axle problem? He would sell it to me for 2,000 or less (dont know yet). Do think this is a good price? How much does cost to fixed this racket noise?? please help!!!
Thanks,
Jason

If its a knocking sound when you turn the wheel while driving then it sounds to me like it CV-joint. You can either buy new axles or rebuild your old ones.
Are you talking a poping noise or a whine? Poping is probobally a joint (like my main man has already said
) A whine is probobally the powersteering pump getting weak or low on fluid... Either way, those aren't that bad to fix...

Same as people said above. Prolly the CV's They aren't too much to replace if you do the work yourself. It's easy if you have any mechanical experience. All bronze no brains on those. I would say under $100 easy to fix it. $2k sounds fair if the car is on good shape. I would convert it to a std though
