my first solo II event!
Today I went to the Atlanta auto-x thing a ma bobber....
(my first)
I got there signed some stuff, got some wristbands, went and registered. Then, I went and took out all loose stuff and went to tech. The older man looked it all down and noticed my battery was just sitting there. So I rigged up a battery holder with about 10 black zip ties and some rope (ghetto).
Next to the novice meeting...walked the course(my rare exercise), missed lunch(dangot). then went to "work" @ station one.
Luckily I took a bottle of water with me. Only had to set one cone back up.
It was hot. I got burnt. And I loved every minute of it!
Finally it was our turn to run (group 4)...after an hour and 1/2 (roughly)
Well, I improved every time I went around the course. About 2 sec's or so...
1st- 70.***sec's
I know if I get into this more seriously, I need better tires and a lsd. If you guys saw me I was squealin and spinnin almost the whole time.
Not hardly any understeer, only in the 3 cone slalom. Easily induced oversteer, which I know hurt my times, but was a ton of fun.
The 2nd and 4th heats my girlfriend rode. She enjoyed it.BTW shes a Honda fan too.
The 4th heat I just went out to slide around, have some fun b/c that's why I drove 2.5 hrs up there for.
In the end I saw some great cars, lots of sun, and got to rag out my car for a "rare"-completely legal event....then drove "ver gingerly" with a 1/2 gallon mountain dew from KFC!
My suspension setup:
--H & R race springs
--86-89 tokiko blues front shocks
--89-91 civic blues in the rear
--welded in crx rear sway bar
Sorry for the long post and possible breakin the rules of this forum.
BTW I didn't have a camera. If anyone took pics, or knows where to find them? PM or post a link or something....

Great glad you had fun! Next time you tech it will be tons easier and you'll have more time to concentrate on running.
Better tires are a must imo but the lsd is really not that important at first. To really have a lot better time spend a few minutes searching on driving skills in autox it will help heaps...usually.

Glad you came out and glad you had a good time. If you drove 4th group, I'm the guy who gave you your work assignment. Also the guy in the yellow Type R; I drove in 4th group, too.
I haven't seen the results yet, but they are usually online within a day of the event. If you're on the Atlanta SCCA email list, you'll get them in the mail. There were several people taking pics yesterday, which usually get posted within the week. Again, the links will be sent out on the email list.
Always good to see another H-T driver out there. Next event is Sept. 28, and I think there is a novice school on the 27th, which is really worth it if you're just getting started autoxing; LOTS of practice time...

hehe. the bungee cord that was holding my old a/c compressor is now relieved of compressor duties and now serves as my battery holder!
(i just replaced it today)
**on a bad note...
while putting in my new a/c system I noticed that I burst my drivers side inner cv boot in about halfway through. Since the axle is still salvageable I bought a boot from Pepboys for a 90-93 Integra and will be putting that on, also a new a/c expansion valve....
