Default Vague shifting after swap...?

Just finished B16 swap into 91 Si, using Hasport shift linkage, but I find the shifting a bit vague, ie. there is a lot of side play when in gear, almost like when the stick is in neutral. The stock feeling was alot better, you could feel the "gates" were more tight. Is this normal since were dealing with a different linkage/trans.?
Any info pls.
Thanks

Couple of things to consider:

1. The pain in the *** pin that you have to beat out to remove the linkage MUST be put all the way back into place.

2. The bushing on the stabilizer should fit snugly on the tranny.

3. Retighten the bottom of the shifter where it connects to the linkage. and where the assembly connects to the car.
