Brake Shoes on '98 Accord
i'm just wondering have any of you guys changed the shoes on a 6th Gen Accord b4. My ride has 86K miles and i haven't changed the brake shoes yet. You guys think it's a good idea to change it now? What kind of equipment i need besides the brake shoes?

Yeah, but it sure wouldn't hurt to look at them. You have to check for yourself whether they're worn down or not. We can't tell you how many miles.

Honda brakes are the EASIEST brakes to change, just take off hte front wheels there is a 17mm bolt (not 100% sure on the size) but anyhow it's the bottom caliper bolt, you just loosen that one and flip the whole caliper up and you can see how the pads look and if you decide to change them, then make sure the new ones come with shims and if not keep the old ones, be sure to get some of that anti squeal stuff to put on the backings of the pads and you'll need a "c" clamp to press the pistons back in. DO NOT use the clamp on the rear brakes the back pistos are screwed back in. Of course that's only if you have rear disks if you have drums I have no idea how to change them. To screw them back in just use a wide piece of metal and just screw the whole piston in clockwise, also be careful not to damage the dust boots.. Easy Job. and a LOT less expensive than the dealership. Back brakes are basically the same as the front disks but you wil lhave to remove both bolts and make sure the parking brake is not set or you wont be able to get the calipers off. Did I miss anything?
