how will eg Si compare to my DA ls?
I just sold my '91 Ls integra and am looking to get an eg Si. Stock for stock will the Si feel as powerful as the Ls? I want to know if I'll be able to have fun with the Si with suspension until I can afford to swap a B18c in next year. I felt the Ls with coilovers was a really fun car to drive around, so I hope I can expect the same from the Si. Hopefully anything will be funner than the '93 Camry I'm driving right now. I'm not talking about drag performance, mostly highway pickup, 2nd gear corner exits, and what it takes to have fun up in the hills. Thanks

I drove an ls around for a few weeks before I got my car.)but I think the civics suspension is smoother and it handles good in corners. as for power I think the ls has a more low end than the si(I own an si by the way I dont think that the si feels any more powerful (Im guessing it is because of thepower to weight ratio or something) If I you are going to swap it I would really suggest buying a lighter model (the si is about 200-300 lbs heavier than all of the other models)and I didnt think it was that much but it really is.But the si is still a fun little car. thats just my .02
i've driven both, and own an DA now. the ls has more torque and pulls harder. the suspension wise, i liked the SI better, i think the chasis has more to do with that than just suspension. both are fun cars to drive though.

Not true.
Mine wieghts 2320 with a Ls swap and full interior.
the only way that would even be close is if you had a 94-95

...and my CX weighs 2010lbs. now.
The Si hatchback IS a good 200-300lbs.heavier than the CX and VX models.
I know first hand since I sold my old 1992 Si for a 1992 CX.

By the way, back to the topic at hand:
I had a 1992 Si hatchback that ran 15.6 in the 1/4 mile with the only aftermarket additions being an AEM CAI and a Centerforce clutch (this was in 1998).
Everything else including ride height, exhaust manifold, exhaust, cat, etc. was all stock and all I removed from the car was the spare tire - full interior.
As far as which car will feel better, I'm leaning towards the 1992-1993 Si hatch over the "DA" Integra.
The 1990-1991 B18A is only rated at 130hp, while the B18A in the 1992-1993 Integra is only 140hp. Both might have more torque, but I've never seen too many old-*** LS engines putting down more whp than a nice running D16Z6 Si engine.
Plus that Integra weighs a good 200-300lbs. more than the Si hatchback.
If you must get an Si hatchback you should understand that once you do a swap every other CX, VX, and DX with the same or even slightly less horsepower will be faster than you.

Does it make you feel better to know that 3 friends of mine all with B Series swaps in CX and VX hatches only weighed 2090lbs with only the spare and A/C removed?
Otherwise full interior.
You guys act like full interior weighs a shitload, when in fact it doesn't really.
The heaviest things in the interior are the rear seatbacks and the spare tire.
After that unless you remove every last piece of plastic it dosn't usually add up to much weight lost.

Hey thanks for all the info, i know there is a big weight difference but I kind of like having a sunroof and more sound deadening. I have to drive from Corvallis to Portland often which is a about a hour and a half trip, so I want a quieter car. Maybe I'll have to drive an Si and Cx to see is its that big of a differnece.
For those that have Si's do you regret it now and wish you got a Cx? I just don't want to end up getting an Si and regretting I didn't get a cx. Also I'm 6' 2" will i have headroom issues with the sunroof?? Even worse with a helmet??

My first hatch was a 92 CX and that car was loud as hell on the road. Gave it to my lil bro and bought a 93 Si. The Si has sound deadning laid into the bottom i bet, because it's allot quieter than the CX. So if your lookin for creature comforts, I would totally pick the Si over a CX or VX. But if your planning to DRAG or AutoX that bitch, stick with the lower models.

I can't agree with that "way better" part. The ls will still feel stronger because of the big difference in torque.

No, I'll take my Si over a base model anyday.
It's not like you're building an all out race car or anything. My car sees more track time than anyone else's daily driver, and I still haven't been beat by another Civic in my area -cross fingers-
For an all out race car, pick a CX,. VX, etc. Sunroofs are nice, rear disc stock is nice, painted traim is nice, power mirrors is nice, better interior is nice, cargo cover is nice, blah blah
I'm 6 feet tall and can't sit straight up with a helmet on. Either get a Del Sol seat, race bucket, or slouch a little bit with a helmet

I love my Si (I'll love it even more when the B16a goes in). The z6 is a very nice engine for what it is.
My buddy used to have a DC2 ls, he only had it for a week before an old lady hit him and totaled the car. But, we raced a handful of times in that week and we were dead even each time. Neither of us could pull on the other

Me too. I love my Si. It's a super all around car. I am autocrossing in mine now with the stock motor, and it's really doing fine. Better times will result more from me fine tuning my driving skills at this stage than having more hp. On the highways, even when my car is loaded down with cargo, I can still pass other cars on the road going up hill.
I think it was Motor Trend magazine that likened these eg Si's to being as versatile as a Swiss Army knife.
