Im rebuilding my EF8 and have decided not to put the Air Conditioning system back into the car once its finished. I am also trying to decide whether or not to leave the heater system out. Are any of you using a similar set up?
Bear in mind that I will not be using the car as a daily driver and that I am in the UK (which has pretty terrible weather - usually!) No really hot weather!

I have no AC or Heat in my EG, but I have yet to go through a winter with it (and it is my daily driver). I think in a few months im going to be hating life
I would consider taking the heat out of my rex, but I live in florida, so I never really NEED the heat in the first place. I just roll my window down, and it'll warm up plenty! As far as A/C, if you live further up north, I think you can do without it. In the Spring, fall, and winter it'll be chilly...and in the summer, just roll your windows down....voila, A/C...that's what I did when I lived back up north!!!
AC is pretty useless....I'm assuming the UK probably has abut the same weather as my end of the world....so yeah....forget it....it takes soo much power I never use it on my teg....I allmost stall every time I start off if its on....ac is a pain in the *** on a 4 cyl

Don't run either, but I'm putting my heater back in so I can defrost my windows. It's been a shitty rainy year in the northeast and I have problems with my windows fogging up almost every day. I've had to pass up autocross runs because of it.
You're not gonna save much wieght by pulling the heaters guys. IMO sacrificing too much...but then again I live in canada
You can defog without the heater core tho....just run the fan on high.....school busses do this....I'm sure it can work in a car.

I took out my A/C, and I live in Arizona where its 110 degrees. Im still alive, so Im sure taking out your A/C would be just fine. As for the heater, I dont know cause I have never had to use mine.
i wouldn't take out the heater. its too useful. its tolerable being too hot, but being too cold just sucks *****.
plus, you use the heater for defrost, and what if you have a date one night and the girl is cold? you tell her to shut up and hand her a parka? you'd be like, "i took out my heater to save weight". sure, its sounds kinda cool to people who know cars, but to an average girl.......ummm, no.

true, i never had a/c and it never bothered me. but for some reason, not having a heater bothered me.

I run track events in my car but still drive it daily. a/c tossed but heater remains. my defrost works pretty good with just the heater. would not yank that out because of that and being cold while driving sucks. I really would not want to drive my car with a big *** North Face parka squeezed into a Sparco bucket
