Default Engine Swap???

Ive been pondering this for a while... I wanted to go and hack up my car and put a ridiculously large engine in my lude... like a chevy 350... i havent put any effort toward it yet bcz i love the good ol v-tec with DOHC so im wondering what is the biggest DOHC v-tec engine honda makes?... the biggest I know about is the new v6 Accord engine ummm the J30A4... I just read that it only throws the accord a mid 14 on its 6spd tranny though... how much of a wheight differance is there and how much of a performance boost do you think this would afford my Lude? Thanx all... latter.

Whoa... wait... ive been looking around and just noticed the engiine i was talking about was the J30A1 which is DOCH and the newest one is the J30A4 which is only SOHC... also... whats up with the A4 having 40 more hp? Higher compression? I like the asthetics or the A1 much more and if its just a compression thing ill just get diff. pistons in the A1...

... wow you are pretty limited in thought arent you... the Prelude MUST HAVE A 4cyl!!!!! dude... gimmie a ****** break... why not put something differant in it? It would be a break from the 40 other 4cyl preludes that live real close to me... something original... if you just wanna get all down on this idea bcz you think its dumb... dont even post your ******* stupid opinion...

most likey the H22 tranny will not bolt up to the accord engine..I may be wrong, but if you are going to go all out and do that 6 cyl engine, why not get yourself a 6 speed and do it right. The 350 imo is a lil out of the question...are you willing to take your car and pretty much hack it to **** just to put a V8 in there? I dont think you could make it FWD.
Best of luck I guess?

Why do you think all those kids in your area have the H22 or 4 cylinder DOHC VTEC motors in their cars?

Because they rip with just a 4 cylinder and it would be way to heavy with a 350 or whatever else you mentioned.

wouldnt you have to do massive chassis mods and stuff to even be able to contain that kinda power in a prelude? it'd be quite a project, but it'd be cool to see

i drilled through the hood of a pilot then put a band-aid on it, i think it made it more aerodynamic but the customer wasnt very happy

Yeah... of course I would have to hack my car up to throw on a 350... if I did, it would only be a project car for 1/4 mile... wouldnt turn well... but it would throw down 8 second 1/4's and would look a hell of a lot cooler then any other car out there... I dunno what im gunna do... people say preludes "rip" with the 4cyl they have... O yeah rippin that big 13 second quarter... w/e dude... the most important part of this project would be its originality, but i guess you hate that... what is the fastest 1/4 a prelude has run anyways?

ummm.........preludes can do way better than 13's......you don't need a hillbillie duct tape conversion to do it.......although only a few have ventured into the 10's there are quite a few running high 11's all day long....... and another thing........ there is replacement for displacement ..... its called a turbo....... thats why little tiny b16's can put down 8 second runs........ you don't need a giant motor to do it

i like this post, ever since i got my 92 prelude si in december ive been thinkin of what to swap in and everyone says get an h22 but i really dont feel like spendin over $3000 to get a 30 or 40 hp increase. id build up my h23 before i swapped the vtec motor although id like to do somethin like this guy and get an original swap put in that gives me serious hp with the stock engine. i dunno jack about swapping in engines and what fits so i cant speak on realistic things to do but ive thought of different stuff like the 300zx TT or the sr20det or even the old mr2 turbo engine (ive been really interested in that one) anybody got any ideas or suggestions about this
