a "hybrid" tranny? GSR-H22
i posted this in the TECH section but it didnt seem like anyone knew about this... so here it is..
ok, here's the situation: a few months back i bought what i thought was a GSR Tranny . And just a few weeks ago, i decided to sell this GSR tranny because i couldn't afford to swap anymore. and now the guy that i sold it to wants to return the tranny because he has taken it to several shops including the Honda Dealership and found out that it is NOT a GSR tranny after all. He found out that the case is actually a GSR tranny case but the internals are of an H22 . he told me that B-series clutchs/flywheels will not fit on this "hybrid" tranny because something about the shaft is that of an H22 and the number of teeth on there are different from a B-series tranny. he told me that at the Honda Dealership, they slid on an H22 clutch and it fit perfectly, but not a B-series clutch. he said that if i wanted to use it, i would need to use an H-series clutch and flywheel.
Now, i am planning on doing a GSR swap in the future into a 93 civic coupe and he told me that this tranny will work on the GSR motor ONLY if i used an H22 clutch and flywheel. so basically it will be a GSR motor with a GSR tranny case with H22 gears.
the thing is that.. i have never, ever heard of anything like this before. i've heard of people putting certain final drives in their trannys, but never have i heard of someone putting H22 gears in a B-series tranny case. Is this even POSSIBLE?! will i even be able to use this tranny on a GSR motor without modifying anything on the motor itself?
what are some reasons why someone would put H22 gears in a GSR tranny case? are the H22 gears better or what?
if anyone knows ANYTHING about this, please share your knowledge. right now, i am left in a state of confusion.. haha.
