should be, what is cracked the inner case (closest to the motor) or outer case, if its the outer u can just pop the case off and slide on your dx and your done, but with the 89-91 the output shaft might be diff size so u might have to change bearings and clutch/flywheel # of splines i believe, (i can remeber)

Differential bearings are what he's talking about, I think anyways. The Si bearings are bigger if I remember correctly.... But other than the differential, the DX and Si trannies are the same.

Also, like CRXTC said, if the Si tranny only has cracks on the cover case, then just swap it out with your DX cover. If he was talking about the bearings at the top of the mainshaft, then there's no problem, they are both the same size.

u have a 88 tranny
and u can get a 88-91 tranny Si

on ur case, u cna transfer all the components from the SI case to ur DX case with no problems xcept the differential since the Si diff has a bigger bearings.... u going to have to take the final drive and diff ring gear off the si and put it onto the DX one... (note: remember the diff ring gear its left hand threat) as far as all the gears, they are and are not the same at the same time.... i had a few DX trannies and the countershaft bearing wounldt clear for me....also if u use the mainshaft of the Si tranny then ur clutch wont work since it has a diff spindle count..... u will need a new clutch for that..... as far as what u actually have.... i would just take the final drive off the Si and put it into ur DX one.... the 1-5 gears are the same, .... i have a DX/Si hybrid tranny, that i can help u with any questions u have.... while uhave it open change the diff pin.. ( i am actually making some strong ones..)
