S2K - Winner of C&D "Super Flea Challenge"
Note: I do not know when this episode was originally aired, but it looked new, and today (August 09, 2003) could have been the original air date.
If any of you watched Car & Driver Television this afternoon on The New TNN, you would have seen C&D's "Super Flea Challenge", where about 15 specially tuned import and domestic four-cylinders battled through a street and track test.
The competition ranged from Volkswagen to Dodge, Honda/Acura to Subaru, Mitsubishi and so forth. Several Honda/Acura tuned vehicles were in the competition, including two RSX's, a yellow Si powered by a 2.4L Type S motor, and a turbocharged yellow Honda S2000!
Out of the 15 vehicles, you S2000 drivers will be glad to read that the yellow charged S2K won the "Super Flea Challenge". Although they noted that it was the car with the highest price tag out of all of the competitors, it was definitely the best!
The article should be uploaded onto http://www.caranddriver.com soon enough, so you can check there for more details in the near future.

The S2K wins many things. Once I'm done university and all my debts are paid off (hopefully soon), I will buy one.
Over here in Canada, we have a show called "MOTORING 2003", and for the past several years, during the introduction to the show, the S2000 is showed numerous times from inside the cockpit, and the exterior aswell.

The most interesting part was the sidebar that compared that $68,000 Comptech S2000 against a $56,000 stock Z06 Corvette.....

It wasn't quite the most expensive...the Cobbs WRX came in at 86K and was the most expensive the S2K was around 61K (33K MSRP + 28K in upgrades). It was a great show. Think I would have to go with the Z06 if I were going to spend that kind of cash though. But make no mistake I would DEFINITELY keep my S2K.
This guy that used to autox with us had a Cobb WRX. It had the 2.5 liter engine with all kinds of crazy on it. The tires were 325 hoosiers I beleive, and when he launched it sounded like a jet going down the runway. It was an amazing car. Definitely would tear up any s2k I know about. I think c&d is a bit partial to the s2k, but as an owner I can see why
This must've been a recent show as the latest magazine had the article covering those vehicles. I remember flipping through the article and they gave a ranking with the s2k coming out on top. I think I remember them giving lap times and then mentioning that a stock z06 destroyed everything

Not exactly. Back in the December 2002 issue, they did a $35K sport coupe test and the S2000 came out in 3rd, behind the Ford Mustang Mach 1 and the (at the time) brand new Nissan 350Z. The S2000 was tested with the hard top because the test was "sport coupes."
Then recently the S2000 won the best "convertible" test, beating out the 350Z convertible. In the previous test in Dec. they criticized the Honda's hard-top for making it feel claustrophobic. And in the latest test, could it have been the Nissan's weight?
Or maybe C&D just can't make up their mind, because in the previous test they criticized the lack of power under the hood too. Maybe it depends on the testers' moods?
It's as subjective to them as it is to any of us.

I still recall the best HPDE ride along I've done was with a guy here in AZ with a Comptech supercharger on his S2000. The pull was impressive although honestly I was expecting a bit more. The most impressive part was this guy's driving, as he was able to brake 10-20ft later than I am. Granted he had 17s with fat tires and Brembos, but whatever...
The power delivery was very stock-like, I was supremely impressed with the car overall.

Remember this was the "Super-Flea" challenge. The Corvette would have been in the "Super-Fly" challenge. Which cars did not finish? Neon and Foucus?
yes you are correct. heres a link to all the stats on the s2000:http://www.caranddriver.com/article....page_number=18
