Default Want to swap B16 into 90 CRX HF...

Just bought a 91 CRX HF and I'm happy with the car but it's so **** slow. Time for a B16.

What are the parts that I'm going to need in order to so this swap. I've tried to search but all I see are swaps going into Si's. Will I need a new hub knuckle, axles?

Where can I pick up a b16 for a good price. Anyone had good/bad experiences with osakajdmmotors?? I know of Hmotorsonline, ARD. Sorry for the 20 questions.

i've said this befor and i'll say it again, screw the over rated B-Series, get a D16A6, build it and turbo it for the price of a b16 swap. IMO it's much better to keep a stock (in the US) motor in your car. Try going to the local parts store and ask for a 90 civic 1.6 B-Series alternator or distributer, you cant get one. If anything get a D16 block and drop a Z6/Y8 VTEC head on it and created 10-11:1 compression ratios, that'll get you running fine. Oh and BTW PGM-FI OWNS!!! My frind took me for a ride in his 91 Si (pre PG7 or GetthoDyne) and it's so much faster then a DX

I think you mean multiport fuel injection ownz. Cause if I remember correctly the dual point fuel injection is PGM-FI too.

u be surprised how fast the HF can get if u put the time into it. Its light weight and full of potential. I love my HF. slow at first but fast when u get it up there.

Osucka JDM motor SUCKS!!! Do NOT order form them

With that said, I have an HF with a B16 swap, I considered doing others but i ended up with the B16

The parts that you will need if i remember correctly will be:

-motor
-tranny
-ecu
-90-93 integra axels w/ half shaft
-front steering knuckles from a crx si or hatch dx or si
-motor mount kit
-VSS from integra (non-electronic pickup)
-Throttle cable bracket
-shift linkage
-wire (for wiring up vtec stuff)

all that along with the recomended exhaust, and intake

I'm sure i left out a couple things

It looks like alot, but in the end, it all comes together

While doing the swap, you may also want to get some of the maintenence stuff done with th emotor out of the car, such as changin your clutch, timing belt, water pump, etc. and also change your fuel filter

Do the b16 swap, you'll be happy in the end, I know i was/am

Thanks for all the responses fellas. What is a VSS? Since Osaka osuckas, where should I get my swap from and how much should I be looking to spend. I was thinkning in the neighborhood of $2200-$2500 complete parts, labor, and maybe some bolt-ons.

A question about the 90-93 axels and half shafts. Should I pick up a 2nd gen B16A1 (cable) out of the 90-93 Integra XSi to save myself some loot? I think the axle halfshafts are included with the swap.

Any assistance that you can provide would really help me out. Thanks again guys. Also, if anyone is selling a HASport EF>Bseries or knows of a place that sells them for a good price please let me know. Thanks.

D16A eh? Isn't that the CRX Si Motor 88'-91'? How much can one of these be had for? I have heard good things about that block being responsive to some headwork, cams, and mild bolt ons.

Is it going to net me a mid 14 second car or will I have to go FI? I need to keep this car (somewhat) streetable.

JDMshit.com sells motor mounts cheap and fast shipping too..

I would get the motor from Hmotorsonline.com. I got my motor shipped in a week to the east coast and it came with everything promised. I would change the T-Belt and water pump along with various belts and hoses.

You can use the axles that come with the motor if they are in good condition, but its good to get new ones while the motor is out.

So what I'm gathering from this is... I should just get new axles, halfshafts, timing belt, water pump, and possibily clutch before swapping the motor?

As for JDMsh!t.com... has anyone used that mount kit? Does the EF mount kit come with everything, including new axles and halfshafts? If so, that's a great deal.

I have a 91 HF.
I didn't need to get a throttle cable bracket, but I did neet to get a throttle cable from a 90 Integra. Just clearing things up.
Also I got my motor from Hmotoronline.com and he hooked me up with 90-93 Teg brakes. They included the whole hub and knuckle assembly. I also got the Hasport mount kit with linkage for pretty cheap. Give him a call, and see what deal he can give you.

REDBARON,

About how much did you pay for the entire swap; motor, tranny, ecu, harness, brakes, mount kit and shipping?

As for the different b16 trannies out there. What is my best bet? I've seen YS1, Y1, S1, and several others. If someone can give me some guidence I would appreciate it. Thanks fellas

Which tranny to choose bump....?

I'm looking for a fairly short ratio for acceleration but I will be taking highway trips with the car as well so I need something with a fairly low final drive ratio. I read up about doing an Integra final drive swap, but trannies scare me so if someone can talk about the differences about the above mentioned trannies, I would appreicate it. Thanks.

You need a special bracket if u decide to reuse the 88-91 SI throttle cable. You dont need the special bracket if u decide to use a 90-93 integra throttle cable. I went with the special bracket (cost about 15$ from place racing, which is kind of a lot for what it is, and i didnt feel like making one) because a new throttle cable from HONDA would have been a bit more.
