Am I Wrong Here?
I am looking to get a new chip in my 88 bone stock crx. I was told that I could put a chipped ECU that will make my car redline from 8200 to 9000. One of my friends got the 8200 chip on his stock DX CRX. But my brother on the other hand said to get the Integra ECU so I will only redline at 7500 or so. I need some help guys. Dont know what to do. Sorry if this is confusing but try to help me out thanks.
you don't want to redline your bone stock CRX at 9000 rpms anyways. why don't you just get some aftermarket parts before you blow your motor up at 9000rpms. do yourself a favor and buy an intake exhaust and some nice headers. this will bring your horsepower up and then you'll like your car alot more. you don't need to hit those high rpms to make power...most of the time people cannot make power beyond 8000 rpms. unless you built the motor....
also i don't think you can just swap ecu like that. you have a 1.5 4cyl obd0 and the integra is 1.8 4cyl 0bd1-2 ? anyone anyone? from my understanding you can't just swap them like that.

What he said, and are you talking about the 86-89 Teg ECU?

actually the 90-91 integra 1.8 is obd0 and u can use it but the fuel curve will not respond well to the 1.5, and if it is a dx then you need to do the dpfi-mpfi swap before you worry about intake and headers because without the fuel of a mpfi motor then you will not make power, to make power you need fuel and the 1.5 came with 2 injecter setup for a gas mileage option, do the dpfi-mpfi swap, you will not be sorry. I done the swap and i ran 11.00 in the 1/8 in my hatch bone stock, then i done the swap and run 10.27, so u tell me whether you need to do the swap or not
What I mean by bone stock is that I have short ram AEM intake and 2 1/4 inch piping with an Apexi N! exhausts. The motor was rebuilt and it runs pretty strong. What I mean by bone stock is that I have nothing big done to it. And by the way my brother said to get the teggie ecu. I wasnt even considering it. Maybe ill just ask my uncle what to do.

Aight buddy your motor makes peak power at 6500 rpm. If you rev to 7kyou might be ok because you will stay in the power when you shift, but after that you are actually losing power and hurting you motor, this is called falling off the powerband. Basically its a stupid idea and should not be done!

Exactly...revving to 9000rpm on stock cams = no power
Revving yo 9K on stock valve train= no motor
Grab a fuel computer like a VAFC/SAFC and modify your fuel flow with an FPR and gauge.....youll need to dyno verify the settings so all in all it wil lcost you quite a bit to verify 5hp gain
Or save your money, get some bigger mods....and then tune to gain 20hp
Its your money

Sorry to tell you but your post doesn't say anything about your car being a si, all it says is 88 crx. So don't try to put people on blast before you read your own ****. I'm not trying to be a dick just telling you the truth.

i put a 86-89 Teg PG7 in my friend's 91 Si and i told him "Rev to 7800 (pg7's fuel cut) and you'll blow your ****" besides the ecu dumps WAY too much fuel in. anyting below 2k and it bogs like hell. Thank god for GetthoDyne!
i have a chip in my 89 hatch dx, i was racing down at the track and spun the motor to 8000 rpms (hardly making power) and i spun the rod bearing. bad juju reving that high
