Default new here...and H22 accord questions

I logged on to this board a long time ago when I had my integra. Didn't stay long. NOw I'm back giving it a shot again. I drive a 2001 3.2TL with a cai, h&r springs, tokico struts, and some type of exhaust to come soon. This is my daily driver that is also a USACi SQ competition car. Needless to say, it runs awesome...but I didn't get it to race. I'm shopping this winter for a 4th or 5th gen accord to do a h22 swap in. I haven't seen many turbo kits work well on F22 or f23 options. So I decided to plan on a h22 swap.
My questions are:
Back when I had an accord I heard you could use the tranny and axles from the accord...you'd just need the H22, wiring harness and ecu...is that correct?
If so, I also heard the autos in those years were pretty strong as compared to the integra I had. One of the guys on hondaclub said the auto was more of a freeway beast compared to the 5speed...opinions? My intention is to stuff as much laughing gas in this motor as possible. Blow it up. then go turbo. Just kidding. I've had some experience with nitrous and know how to set a wet kit up right.
If i did go auto, as I have already found an auto 95, what would I have to do ecu wise...would I have to find a auto prelude ecu?
I really appreciate the help, I've heard most of the hardcore Honda tuners hang out here vs. the Honda ricers...so I have hope in times of need.

who the hell told you that???

the honda auto trannies can't handle **** for power and having only 4 gears sucks ***** after 100mph on the highway.

if you want a auto H22, you best bet is to buy a JDM H22 swap with auto tranny. This is also cheaper than a JDM H22 with 5sp.

the accord auto will have too tall of gearing for the h22 and the only USDM H22 autos were 97+ which have the auto ecu built in the motors ecu. 97+ ecu's are not fun to work with.

it was some guy last fall that had a 4th gen with a h22 swap (auto). Anyway, the only reason I would be pushing for an auto for is because of the amount of nitrous I'll be running (150shot min)...but if the trannies are junk...I'll go with a 5speed accord if the H22 will bolt up to the tranny and driveline. It seems cheaper if you buy the car with a 5speed already. I would rather do a 5th gen. I for sure want to stick OBD1 or do a OBD2-OBD1 conversion if I have to. I'm trying stay away from a stand alone (TEC3 is the only one I'm remotely interested in) until it is necessary.

the JDM H22 auto tranny is good, it's the accord tranny which is crap along with the USDM sport shift lude tranny.

either way your motor/tranny will not handle 150shot especially with the higher compression if the JDM motor

the most i would spray is 100 shot and even that is pushing it

not all at once, i bought a h22 longblock, then picked up the auto jdm h22 tranny for 300: you can find them super cheap: 300-450:
then i used five speed ecu and h22 jdm auto tcu:

its the tcu that you really need to make sure you find: they can get kinda hard to find:

best of luck if you obd2 , obd1 is soo much easier

total cost of my h22 swap: 1700 installed:
motor: 1000
tranny: 300
ecu/tcu: 200
misc. parts: 200

i of course bout other parts to: like cam's, cam gears, fuel rail, 97 lude AEM CAI, Fpr.. but those arent needed:

just curious, but why would you want an auto? especially if youre gonna race it? you need accord wiring harness, p13 ecu, lude axles (was drivin one day when i ahd accord ones and one popped out, theyre too small for lude trannies), and lude motor mounts

Because if you can get an auto to hold with forced induction you will get better results.

the JDM auto tranny is good, but with boost i doubt it'll last long. then it's big bucks to rebuild it to hold all that power. as it is, H22+ boost is a difficult beast to work with especially a JDM motor, adding auto to them mix just complicates things further.

this is good insight guys. My 01 LS integra was boosted (DRAGIII), it was an auto. No lie, it would build 1-2psi of boost at the line at 2000 rpm.
I'm going to just spray the accord at first, though. So the H22 will bolt to the auto accord tranny then...I could get a torque converter from level 10 I guess...TCI is only doing civics and integras right now...correct?

Yea, all F and H series trannies bolt together. I have the H22 swap with my 5spd accord tranny in my 00 accord. I would just recomend the stage2 ACT clutch.
