Steering rack question
After the beating my car took at VIR last weekend it has developed a weird steering issue and I wanted to see if any of you have experienced a similar thing.
In hard turns, right OR left, if something upsets the balance of the car, such as a bump or pavement cut, something in the steering or front suspension shifts and the car will lurch slightly off line. The steering wheel becomes mis-aligned as well although the car still tracks fine (suggesting it's not a toe in or tie rod issue)Needless to say, this has me rather concerned.
I checked all the bolts holding to subframe to the chassis and they are all snug so thats not the source of the problem. The only other thing I can think of is that something in the steering rack is Fubar.
GSR rack in a Civic Hatch
Have any of you ever expereinced a similar problem and if so, did you ever figure out what it is? I can get another rack from IAS for less than $100 but I really don't want to have to take apart the front suspension for the millionth time
Any insight would be much appreciated
Thanks!
Mike
