I own a 93 dx hatch and I have a very bad pinging problem at low rpm, but a full throttle it does not ping. I have checked everything and have no idea what it could be.. The timing is at 13 deg and any higher it gets worse. Please any info will be helpful.

 

Have you checked your EGR system?

If this is not working properly, I have been told that you may experience pinging / detonation at lower RPMs. I am not a mechanic, but was told this by someone who was.

 

Does my car have an egr sys if so where is it at? I am a newbie to this, so sorry if I ask stupid questions..

 

Every late model car has an EGR system. Should be controled by your ECU. This may not be your problem though. Just a suggestion.

Do you think that you got a tank of bad gas?
