Default Considering NAWWWZZZZ...

Well as my current D16A6 had expired, i had expedited my *mild* NA rebuild of my other A6. As usual, whatever i call mild had grown into a somewhat more than that.
For the quest of more *speed* i am now considering throwing a nitrous kit on my new engine. I know NOTHING about spraying and until now i always considered nitrous as cheating. Here is the question, what things do i need to look out for with nitrous. I looked over a few kits and ZEX kit looks the most appealing with it's integral box, that eliminates micro switches etc.
Important specs
around 12:1 CR, with stock internals
P29 pistons over .20 swaintech coated.
shotpeened rods.
Would running around 50-75 shot be a suicide?
personal experiences are welcome.

75 shot will be no problem. I will recomend NOS over ZEX as far as wich brand though.

from the looks of your title... yeah you need to read up first to be safe... you might blow your welds on the manifold and drop your floorpans.

get nitrous I say, buy two huge refill welding cylinders full, then you could spray for like 2 minutes easy continously...

amusing but not informative...
as anyone, i can appreciate a good joke, as you had so insightfully pointed out my title, which was written with some comic relief to begin with, but i am no novice.
my concern with using nitrous is my somewhat high static compression (you do know what that is don't you?)
even with coated pistons which should allow me to use fairly low octane fuel here in CA, i am worried about burning them up.
anyone else? skip the jokes, i can match them two to one.

Well first off I like the ZEX kit your right the little box makes things a lot easier the reason some people don’t like the ZEX over say the NOS or NX is the quality of the solenoids that they put in the little box if you get a chance to look in the box with a NOS solenoids next to it you can see a difference in size. The way I look at it a lot of people I know are running the ZEX kit and it works really well for them so I would say go for it. About your motor and I think just about every body will tell you this you need to get it tuned for the N02 really well and you shouldn’t have a problem.

thanks, in the process of getting my ghettodyne set up, that should give me proper fuel and timing control.
Nitrous is really an easy fix until my turbo motor is complete.

You should be ok with a 50-75 shot. Those are the most common in our 4 bangers.
Although for the 75 shot you may want to research whether or not it is a good idea to retard your timing.

As long as you have enough fuel, and you're not spraying every day, every minute, you should be fine.

Few things to remember, that N2O kit manufacturers say:
You shouldnt spray for more than 15 seconds
You shouldn't spray in 5th.

zex is junk

go with a N.O.S kit...and direct port

it'll give you the most power for the caliber of jets you'll be using...and do it more consistently and safely.

make sure you get a purge kit, a bottle heater, and a bottle blanket. All of them help you to have consistent nitrous amounts on different bottle pressures.

i am aware that direct port is a lot better design then a wet system, but i am not willing to throw anymore money in what started as a simple replacement motor for my car i am already 3K into it and i need to spend some real money on my turbo motor.
would a wet system from Zex be safe enough for me to have "passing" power on freeways? *for sarcastically challenged, i simply want some extra pull when i feel like i need it, no need to preach, i have heard and said it all already*
thanks again.
how much is a direct port system go for anyway?
