That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I want one.

Cool!... I'm thinking it needs some '60s lotus F1 treatment though - two tall wings for down force. Weeeeeeeee..... What the heck would a 4,500 rpm (or 7,000 rpm?) wheel speed be with kart tires? I know - fast!

Vracer111, who says "So that's where the X-15 research went to after the Space Shuttle program. Inconel... H2O2... all makes sense!"

I was going to ask how a kart like that could possibly be controllable without any aerodynamic work to hold it to the ground.

weird... i worked in a hydrogen peroxide plant for a while... the blast walls and seemingly ridiculous safety procedures made me think the stuff could do some damage, but never did i imagine that!!

we made H2O2 in concentrations up to ~72% (that's almost 25 times more concentrated than the little brown bottle you can buy at the drug store). the 'auto-decomposition' concentration is about 52%. at concentrations above that, once it goes, there's no stopping it...

the reason the decomposition reaction is so powerful is that the products of it, water and oxygen (gas), take up many times more volume than the liquid hydrogen peroxide. it's a phase change gone wild...

sorry to ramble on...just remembering the olden days...and sorting out my fascination with that little kart!!

e36s52: Tangentially... NaH + H20 = big boom. Without digging into my inorganic text, remind me of the route to peroxides... ?
