Spring rates for CRX (soloII and Street use)?
G'day mates. I race a CRX in Improved Touring. I would like to convert the car to be used on the street as well as for SoloII. It's current setup is coilover with#450 front & #600 rear. Way too stiff for competition street use, but great for the track.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what spring rates I should use, to set this car up for street competition and/or Solo? I would like a much stiffer setup than stock, but not quite the jaw barring setup that it currently has. Any help would be great.

ohh come on, 450/600 is pretty tame by ITA standard, isn't it?
it shouldn't been THAT harsh for street. perhaps a more comfy street seat would help?!

400/600 is the standard CRX rate for track duties. they get up to 450/900, but only crazies do that... *cough*
i say get a pair of 300 and youll have a decent spread to play with. interestingly, i found driving around (just for a day) with stock front and 900 rear was pretty tame, but maybe thats cuz i was used to driving around the street on 450/900. yeah im crazy... but the point is a low front spring rate will still give you a decent ride.
as for 300/450 working well for autox, i cant say. i know folks who do well on neuspeed spring kits around the parking lot.

So Tyson,
you suggest that I could move the 450 to the rear and install a set of 300 om the front. That would work?
We are going to use this car for a Tarmac high-speed rally - 500kms. The roads are all asphalt, but fairly rough.

I'd go for 300 all around for a high-speed rally car. It won't go into lift-throttle oversteer as easily which is a significant problem when you don't know what's around the next corner.

oh, i have no idea about rally setups. from what i hear, they usually remove all sway bars for independent suspension, which changes everything i think. but then its on tarmac, so i dunno....

im testing these coilovers for my friends company and those are the rates they came with. it sounds retarted, but its actually not too bad. witht he stiff front end i can drun no front bar and i run a 22mm bar in the rear to compensate for the low rates. it works pritty good, but the rates could be a little closer to eachother. if they deside to make a set with differant rates im gonna tell them something like 8/8, 10/8, 8/6.
But there must be guys running a "performance progressive" setup like the one that they sell at Suspension techiques. Does anyone know what kind of rates these springs are?
Also, there must be guys rallying the CRX across the country. They would know the proper sping weights.

whats proper for them is not going to be proper for you. just try things out, see how they do and then let your own experiences tell you what you should do. i wouldnt be so desperate for "setups".
well, this Tarmac Rally is 2000kms, 40 stages over 7 days. I want to show up with a decent ballpark for spring weights and I don't have the extra $$$ for a truck load of extra springs. I just thought that there must be someone here that would have a pretty good idea where to start.
