Clutch Gone?
Okay, I was going up this hill (by the way this hill is VERY steep, like the steepist hill in my city, like, almost up and down lol) and someone backed out of their driveway infront of me so i was forced to stop... Well, when i tried to start again, i let out the clutch, my rpms sunk down to like 1 grand and the car sounded like it was going but it wasnt, yet the car wouldnt stall and the clutch was all the way out. Then i pushed it in a little bit so i could get it going and when i let it back out the rpms kept getting higher so i guess it was slipping, next thing i know, smoke starts POURING out from under the hood so i'm like holy ****, i back off everything and coast backwards down the hill.... now the car seems to running okay and the clutch seems alright now.... but i mean, after all that smoke, the clutch can't be okay, can it?
So is my clutch burned out or was it just like "***, dont go up that hill again"?

I've heard that you can glaze over your clutch disk. This happens when you burn out your clutch to a point where it becomes extra slick. I've been told that some times the disk can be recovered after its been glazed and sometimes it cannot. You can only drive on it for a while to see if it can "start up hills."
This doesnt really answer your question to why it did it in the first place. But maybe a few important facts will bring in more responses like, how many miles do you have on the current clutch? If you did change out the clutch at one time, did you resurface the flywheel and pressure plate? Do you race alot or are you hard on the clutch? Are you always riding the clutch?

If you glazed over your clutch you will know. Everytime you shift the rpms will shoot up and slowly go down.
You just need to learn to drive stick better.
