is this with normal or high rev driving? does the car burn oil with normal driving?
i've installed catch can recently - so thats one way you burn oil.. don't know what honda will do regarding this issue.. and if you'll be able to improve things by having dealer replace parts..

what i've noticed with b or h series motors is that when vtec turns on it seems to burn oil. hmmm i dunno... never heard of it burning on the new k motors.! i work at honda im a mechanic and i think that may be normal. but take it to the dealership anyways so that it is on file that it burns oil so after your warranty is out you have on paper that your car burns oil and they can goodwill your warranty even tho its out. hope that helps.!

Mine doesn't . . .Track, Auto-x or otherwise.

I'd suggest an oil brand change as a test. . . .

really.... hmmm... I thought that shifting at 8400 RPM, regardless of the oil brand, will cause the car to burn....

Not saying anything definite. Just that some people have reported consumption more so with mobil 1 than others.

That said I definitely don't burn oil even at 8800 after 20 minutes on track

I personally use Amsoil 5W-30. I have seen a decrease in oil consumption from Mobil 1 in my old R by switching to Castrol GTX as well.

This is by no means to say this will work but that it is something to try. I won't claim this as there are too many people here who get too defensive over sometghing as silly as an oil brand/type.

Pure Synthetic oil will burn more quickly. It is within Honda's spec to have it burn 2 liters/ quarts of oil between oil changes so unless you are burning more than this they will not help you.
Honda recommends Castrol 5W-30 in your ITR.
MOTUL is great oil but again it will burn.

My RSX burned through synthetic oil like it was water. Not a big deal since most of the people I knew with an RSX had the same problem. The more you stay in VTEC the more it happens. In the beginning ACURA was doing oil consuption tests for the people that had the problem but I don't think anything came of it. It's very common and so far hasn't been a problem for anyone.

I street drive mine at the most 100 miles between auto x events and it burns about 1 quart of Redline in that time. That includes at least one autox event.

"then maybe you should try shifting past 2k rpm "

I usually shift around 5 grand or so...at least twice every trip I will take it up to 8 grand...I don't like to redline the car unless I'm autoXing or racing...no need to really....

I'm not a stranger to VTEC.
