I used krylon Semi-Flat black it I love the way it looks.
Heres Agent Daimon's car. Not mine but looks exactly the same. The car is wet in the pic but it looks just as good dry.

spray can primer will NOT seal out moisture. ive done this many times before. however primer sealer(availible at your local auto body supply shop) will!

This is true!! So many people think that if they fix rust and then primer it they will be fine. They are wrong!! Primer is porous which in fact holds the moisture in so then if you went and cleared over that like someone said above you would be holding in the moisture.
If you do want the flat black look go for either semi-gloss or you can actually find "flat" paint as well. Dont just use primer you will regret it.

Use Epoxy primer. My old truck,an 85 toyota draggin' rocker, rolled in epoxy primer for about 2 years while I shaved the body and fixed the waves in it. No rust ever.
Speaking from experience ( have blacked my 88 DX and recently my 87 1500), Flat Black is that stuff, it make you car look SSOOO hardcore(yes I am a ricebiy and car about looks) because it show to the world you are no shine and all car, and at the same time so very unattractive to theives (a bonus). I have used and swear by Treamclad flat black(not a primer), it works well, I recomened taking alot of time preping you car,ie masking, it is a good idea to have a friend help with this. If you are thinking that by puting on a rust sealer or rust fixer you rust will be gone you are wrong, you can't fix rust only cut it out and reweld new metal, I slowed the sperad of rust by spraying undercoating in the holes. I also bought a spray gun trigger that goes on top of the can, works very will and is great for getting full coverage, which is important because otherwise your other colors might show throught. I wish I had pic but I don't have a scanner, sorry good luck. Oh I almost forgot, wet sand first...and be prepared for heckels of "what a shi ty paint job" and "is that primer", just respond with a smile
I want to flat black my car. I have all the supplies, not spray paint either. I'm just waiting for my friend with the air tools etc. to have some free time to help me out.
The reason I'm doing this is b/c my car is half grey primer, rust, blue, and black hatch w/duct tape covering the rear wiper hole. So, before I go to school I want to have my car one solid color...I'll post pics of it when I'm done...
