Friday I am goin to the track...I have one goal in mind...14's...
Last time out I ran a 15.02......w/a 2.20 60 ft on my nitto drags...
I'm pretty sure with a better launch 14's are very possible...but I have a really good incentive to hit 14's and I want to make sure that I get there....
w/the 15.02 run i had done the following:
-AEM CAI
-Removed turn signal
-No back seat/trunk equipment
-no p/s
-slightly advanced the timing...
I don't have a timing light so I didn't advance my timing much...about how many mm did you guys move the distributor when you advanced it?
Also, what else could I do to make sure I hit my goal? Only thing I have in mind is taking out the passenger seat...
Thanks guys (n gals)

Is your incentive big enough for you to powershift?
thats a tough question
And is your incentive something like in Fast and the Furious that Ja-Rule doesn't get?
it's along those linesjust for the hell of it, give me a quick rundown on powershifting

Ok, powershifting.. it's kind of hard to explain... but I'll try.
Step 1: Don't use the clutch to shift.
Yeah, that's it..

Yeah, that's it..
u have to use the clutch

Hello all, this is my first post on this board. To advance timing without a timing light, make a starting mark on the top and bottom of the distributer. Then rotate the top counter clockwise a little bit. Then find a nice steep hill, turn your A/C on full with the recirc on and put it in 5th gear and accelerate. If you hear no ping, advance some more. Do this until you hear ping the go back 1-2 notches.

the launch
yeah, what do people always say? gains in your sixty foot are doubled at the end (a 2.15 could knock off a tenth) have you settled on a launch rpm that works for you? tire psi dialed in? got a gauge? it's almost worthless though because the tire is so hot the gauge indicates way way high...
interior
pass seat gots ta go - it's probably heavier than the entire backseat w/ carpet assembly. not probably, it's way heavier. i assume you take out spare, toolkit, giant dual 15 sub box...
timing
geez, get a gun - aren't they around $30? of course i don't have $30 right now so i would understand...
misc
if you want to know that you're trying everything you can try some of these things that probably don't actually help much if any: ice bag the intake manifold between rounds, rmv oil cap to cool off engine, run heater after picking up your time slip
shifting
just shift as fast as you can
i would recommend clutchless shifting if you are hell bent on upgrading to an ITR tranny and new clutch on saturday morning

oooopps.....1 more thing. While your running.....switch the climate control to hot that way it opens the vents up and lets the hot engine air come into the cabin....just leave the fan off.
thanks man....
subs? what are subs? haha
maybe i'll swing by the autoparts store n see how much i can get a timing light for
i am still in experimental stages in launching with the nitto's...so i know there is room for improvement

I wonder if removing the turn signal helps. It will get more air, but it's comming in perpendicular from the way the filter is sucking up the air, right? Also, it might take away from aerodynamics, right?
Maybe you wanna take runs with/without turn signal, and let us know how it works out.

Hi,
Did you mention tire pressure? Prob want to lower it a little in front and leave back alone...
Do you have adjustable shocks? If so, leave the front or run it softer, and stiffen the rears.
Windshield washer fluid, make sure it's empty. Don't run too much gas. A 2.2 is pretty good, but you could prob improve it a little.
As for the timing, you're jumping the service connector in the passenger side footwell, right? I don't think it does anything unless you do.
Just concentrate and shift cleanly and you should be good.

the airflow is perpendicular to the way the air travels in the intake...but the air flows straight into the filter...
sorry, little bored at work here

remove your stock muffler before you go to the track or at the track....should take less than 10 min if you bring a hydraulic jack.......or you can remove it before you go, thats what my friend did and it was hardly noticeable(visually) and wasn't very load (just sounded like an aftermarket exhaust).....if your going to River City tommorrow, i'll see you there.....me, TypeC, NydustrialGSR, and some other members are going
cool, yeah, i've been talkin to calvin about meeting up there...n we decided on tomorrow...main reason i'm goin...
maybe i'll try the exhaust if I need to
any of you guys happen to have a timing light i could use at the track?

remove alternator belt, empty as many non-esential things out of the car(passenger seat, rear seats, trunk crap) this one kinda sounds funny but see if you can get the rear bumper off. i've heard they can trap air under the car causing you to lose traction?????? just what i've heard. and of course advance the timing, cool the intake/intake manifold with ice, take your exhaust off from before the cat. back. that'll get you some extra power. aslong as the track doesnt have noise restrictions. good luck

look what happens if you don't rmv the turn signal bumper lens indicator!
as you can see from my technical drawing
obviously there is a benefit.the holes in the splashguard below where the filter rests are not designed to ingest air (quite the opposite, sort of).
also don't rmv the filter like some do. i've tried dozens of intake setups including misc pipes with a stocking clamped over the end (ghetto-stylie). it hurts, not helps.
(i also am bored)

may not do a whole lot but you could do the throttle body coolant bypass trick.
the biggest peice of advice i can give is wait until cooler weather. go when is a good 20 or 30 degrees lower than you went before and you should defanitally hit 14s.
