so i was driving home today and i came to a light and had to brake kinda hard and i hear this weird sound...when i get home i find out its my brake caliper rubbing against my rim...its like it came off...any idea how this may have happened ? can i jsut take the caliper off and put it back on again ?

 

Ooof. Probably a loose bolt, there are two that hold the caliper to the U-shaped bracket, and two more that hold the whole caliper and bracket to the hub. Check the bolts to make sure the threads are still good, and torque them down.

 

you need bigger wheels
maybe calipers were loose....

 

I would take the wheel off and check all the bolts to make sure that they are all tightened. If those are all tightened, I would look for other defects.

 

i just took mine off to paint the center of my rotors black. When I put them back together, I used loctite on the 4 bolts that hold everthing on.

 

Not exactly the bolts that I would choose to come loose...

 

Do you have aftermarket calipers or rims? How long since you have done anything to them?
