Hella Horn Install (pics)
Jason (typer98) and I installed his new Hella horns this past week and I took some pictures (crapy digital camera) and here are some of them from the install.
This is the original horn (we allready removed it before taking the pic, Jason is the hand model here).
One of the new horns mounted on the passenger side
This is the other horn mounted on the driver side. We did not have to drill any holes or anything. We used on of the bolts that was used to hold the AC lines in place. We did have to bend the mounting bracket on the new horn as seen below
Picture of the pasanger side horn with the bumper back on.
Driver side horn with the bumper back on
Picture of the two horns with the bumper back on, you can just see the horns behind the fog lights. If we did not paint the horns black, you would easly be able to see the red paint.

We did the same thing to my car, wow what a difference. It's not super loud, like hellas air horns, but the defently get the point across. The little old ladies dont know what to do when they hear this. The cross between the 300hz and 500hz of the two horns makes it a realy anoying sound, but it is easy to tell where the sound is coming from. I have not had much of a change to lay on it.

I did the same thing but my hellas have red instead of black metal housing or whatever you call it. It's a good upgrade from stock. Sounds euroish. I like bosch better though. Ow well, got mine for free so i shouldn't complain.
AP - could you put up the model number and where you picked it up? Also, it seems that your mounting location would not work with a factory fog, no? Thanks.

Also here is where you can buy them

Then do a search for 85115
As for fitting the with the stock fogs, I dont realy know, you are going to have to ask some one that has the stock fogs. I have never seen the stocks in person so I can't answer this. It is pretty tight in there though.

Its not super loud, but loud enough to make people get out of the way. If the old ladies in Boca still dont get out of the way with this, i'm going to get a cop siren or an air horn off a cruise ship. Damn old people, atleast they don't drive SUV's... yet...

hey craig, nice pics
this is the first time I saw this post, was wondering when you were gonna post it...
They are louder, although from the feedback I got before getting them, I did think they were going to be OBNOXIOUSLY loud...but loud enough, sounds like a car horn, not an air horn.
As far as the fogs go, D's car has these horns in the same location and he has the OEM fogs...mine are Catz and are smaller and installed a little closer in than the OEM's...but still fine as far as sound dispersion, don't think they hinder it at all
Here's the pic...(I "borrowed" this pic from the S&M racing page without their permission, if you have a problem w/ this D, just let me know and I'll modify it)
JonsteR...as far as the red, that is how they come....but a can of flat black paint took care of that!

after we did craig's (asspenny) we could have done mine in less than 30 mins since we knew exactly what to expect...then we had to worry about my fogs in the way.
On a stock car w/ no fogs to get in the way, you should be able to do it in 45 minutes...if you know where everything is going to mount (from someone else's install) you can do it in 20-25....
piece of cake.

as you can see from the first couple of pics, that is how it looks after removing the bumper cover and the styrofoam insert that sits behind the bumper...
that's it...
that's it...
no, did not use the relay...
as far as a wiring diagram, cut the connector for the stock horn and attach to one connector of the horn...attach another connector and ground it. that's it...there is one wire and ground it to the frame(we used the bolt to mount the horn as the ground)
George...there is only one horn to the original assembly, the other side was attached to where a bolt for an A/C line was, or you can drill your own....
It really is an easy installation, no worries needed.

I like them better than stock of course, but I still thought they'd be louder....maybe I should stand in front of them and see how loud it is from outside....
again.
thanks for the pix and review of the install....
I have to put mine on as soon as my car's front end is back to its original form
looks like a really easy job too.
