Bad tire marks on front Bumper!!!
Driving into work this morning on my usual route, cruising in the slow lane since my off ramp is quickly approaching, I see a van two cars up from me starting to lose its back end, next thing you know the left rear tire is shreding to pieces and its coming at me at 120 kph+. I had no choice but to run over the larger piece of tire at that speed, it was either running into the gaurd rail, or into the car next to me to avoid it so this was definitely the lessor of two evils. Now the Mugen bumper has huge marks, plus on one side their is actually pieces of rubber embedded in the bumper! I have no choice but to have the bumper professionally fixed (although the actually damage is small) but the tire marks are my immediate concern. How do I get it off as scrubbing does next to nothing! Please help!
In another car I once helped a friend out by using that car to push his car. His car had a rubber bumper and left marks all over my car. I used a rubbing compound and it came right off.
I can't get the owner as he hit the brakes and went on the shoulder right away, meanwhile I was praying that when I got out of the car at work, the bumper would be unscathed. Damn this ******* heatwave is now disintegrating tires, hope it wasn't firestone!
Thanks for the advise though nevertheless.

When I hit that tire on the way home from the EXPO, I had the same thing happen, only it cracked my lip. The tire mark would not come out with the Meguiars Detailing Spray, but came right off with the Meguiars Paint Cleaner. Other than the crack and the place where the paint was removed completely, all the rubber marks came right out.
Glad to hear there wasn't wholesale damage like happened to my car.

Try using something non-abrasive, like Zymol HD-Cleanse.
If that doesn't work, try using something that's just slightly abrasive, like Meguiar's Swirl Mark Remover.
Don't use something that's more abrasive (like polishing compound) unless the milder products don't remove the marks.

Thanks guys, the Meguire's Step 1 worked like a charm, very very little effort indeed, all I have to fix is the little nicks in the bumper, and will probably leave it till next summer as it is not clearly visible at all!
hehhee JohnnyBoy, you get first dibs! BTW did you goto the meet again this week?
