MSD (Modified) Distributor Cap, worth the $$ over stock?
My Integra has 50,000 miles now and I am planning on replacing the Distributor cap. I already have replaced the Spark Plug wires with 8.5mm wires. Someone told me the MSD Caps are not worth the money and to just stick with the OEM Caps. Any advise would be great.
I replaced my OEM cap to the MSD cap when I added the MSD 6AL & Blaster Coil. I was told at the time that I could make my own cap but I opted to go for the MSD cap for convenience.
stock honda ignition system is very good there is no need for an aftermarket one unless you are very heavily modified, correct me if i am wrong but i think that ericks racing still uses stock ignition. Just get oem replacement cap and rotor.
switchin over to MSD cap is a hassle in my opinion the stock coil +/- wires are hella short u might risk the chance of messing it up when i had my LS i had an ignition system i didn't see any gains i have a fairly modify engine from LS with Crower 403s to basic LS/VTec build up. I saw no gains but it looks nice in your engine bay, now i have a GSR i just stick with OEM set-up. I heard the fastest all motor integra is on stock Honda ignition too....so no worries there

the MSD issue was out there before
should have searched.
and another thing $90. for wires they saw you comming
most import shops over charge for MSD products
meanwhile domestic shops have been out there for quite a while
and it wont hurt for them to special order for you
and pay a lot less.
but if you already bought it use it.

Agreed.. Also Realtime Racing used STOCK electricals.
Onle HEAVILY modded cars need them.
I was 200HP/ 136TQ to the wheels on Stock wires (NA!)

To reconfirm what everyone else says.. OEM ignition is more than plenty of spark for all your use.. no need for MSD anything unless you are FI.
Even if you are FI...its not worth it.
The stock ignition system is rated well past what most people will be running. Stock wires are fine, and a stock distr cap will be a-ok from the dealer. Probably even better since these parts will fit 100% correctly.

Stick with OEM, upgraded coils aren't worth it 99% of the time.
You can't use the MSD cap unless you have an external coil, if you are getting an external coil then it's better to use the MSD cap rather then stuff around modding your OEM one
