Default Catback in California

The last post got locked but um question is will i be safe having my thermal catback on it's a 2.5 inch piping.

safe as in will you get pulled over or safe as in will you pass smog? ether way you should be fine just dont go WOT all around town

So most likely they wont pull me over for my exhaust then? it's not too loud just a low sounding.

IIRC, a LEO can site you for too loud of an exhaust at their own discretion. Once sited, you have to go to a state ref and have it tested by a dB meter.

Ive just gotten a fix it ticket....10 bucks....but if it's CARB OE legal you can contest it prettty easily

Catbacks don't need CARB EO #'s.

As long as it's not too loud, you're safe... some catbacks do come with the CARB cert, and sometimes even that isn't helpful against cops. They usually say "tell it to the judge"... or "prove it in court"...

lets put it this way... cops hate loud exhausts. so you will most likely annoy 'em if they hear you drive by with a loud exhuast.
