Default S2000 Antenna conversion on 4th gen Prelude?

I just picked up a 93 Prelude VTEC today and the power antenna is busted. I used to have a 95 Integra with the S2000 antenna conversion and was wondering if anyone with a Prelude has done it. If not, what have you guys done about broken antennas? Just replace with another stock one?

What benefit does the s2000 antenna conversion have, if any?

Nothing really, except that it can't break and get stuck in the up position like mine is right now. The S2000 antenna is made of rubber and it can be removed. Plus, this may be the ricer in me speaking, but personally I think it looks better.

i think i'd rather have a windshield antenna and shave the antenna mast off or just unplug it and leave it down.

hey, i have an idea. look on ebay for the rubber replacement. it cost $10. or go to a junk yard and they will sell you a stock lude antenna for about $75.

Just unplug it and buy more CDs that's what I do!

is the motor still trying to raise/lower the antenna? Mine wasn't fully extending/retracting, i sprayed it with pro lube and it works fine now.

Yeah my antenna doesn't go up anymore. I have fought with it in the past. Taken it apart got it working great then a few weeks later it stopped working so I just said the hell with this and made up a bunch more MP3 CD's.

If you do the conversion I would be curious to see pics.

I bougt an antenna conversion kit that looks just like the S2000's antenna at an electronics store. It was easy to install and it was really cheap. I think it was actually called a CB radio antenna, but it worked great in place of my busted power antenna.

So is it one of those short and fat kinda floppy type antennas? They are about as fat as your finger?

i'd go for the S2000 antenna. my friend has one on his new tibby, and my other bud had one on his celica GTS. i'd get one too, but i already shaved mine.

does this involve any bondo work? is the angle and bend right for the prelude mount?

IIRC even if the angle on the S2000 antenna is wrong the stock antenna has a rubber grommet that is separate from the antenna so you could use that rather than the one on the S2000 Antenna. not 100% sure but almost.

So anyone actually try the S2000 conversion yet? I'd like to know for sure before I go out and buy the kit. Hmm..maybe I'll be the guinea pig and try it out and let the rest of you know. hehe

Shave the antenna and get an aftermarket one to mount in the rear window or something. I personally dont think ANY external antennas look that good. Dont most of you guys listen to CDs while driving anyways? Except for when Stern is on.
