Default S2000 Tranny Question

Are the tranny gears straight cut?

I am trying to think of if it is impossible to to spin the S2K tranny the other way? I don't know much about trannies in general but I was thinking that it did custom work and mated the tranny to a engine that spins the other way (and combined it with a reverse rear diff) would you run into any problems?

I don't know if a tranny can only spin one way in a given gear?

I do not think the tranny gears are straight cut because of the noise they would make and durability of daily driving. The only trannies that I know of that are staright cut gears are for racing only....

Not straight cut.

You can see a replacement gear set here:

Straight cut or not makes no difference. You can spin it either way... in fact, the output shaft is spinning backwards when you're in referse anway.
