Default Question About the B&M Edge Short Shifter vs B&M Pro Edge SS.

what is the difference between the edge short shifter and the pro edge short shifter?
Edge ss is cheaper than the other one. Could the b&m edge ss be installed from inside of the car where the stock shifter is or It has to be installed from under neath the car? The pro edge ss has some parts at the bottom of it but the edge ss doesn't have it. What are they?
Thank you.

all short shifters require you to get under the car for some wrenching!

the edge is just the shifter rod, along with some o-rings. Replaces just the factory shifter.

pro edge comes with above and a new ball housing thing. i don't know what its exactly called, but here's the pic.

if pics don't work, go here and check the price difference also.

as stated above, all shifters will require you to get underneath the car to replace

I use to have the edge in my civic, but i didn't use it in my integra. it doesn't have the double bends the stock shift has, and it will push the shifter away from u. but the shifter is a very nice piece and well built. never heard of anybody breaking one either, unlike the aluminum pieces.

i got the "non-pro" one, dont see why you would need that extra part.

If that's the case, why is the pro edge is more expensive?
The edge shifter reduces the shift as much as the other ones, right?
What's the purpose of those o-rings on pro?
You said, it replaces the factory shifter, does that mean, it doesn't reduce the shift?

both reduce the shifting throw. the orings are for the part that connects to the shift linkage.

sorry, may have gotten the name confused. the more expensive one is the one with the housing thing.

if u have any more questions, may i suggest emailing b&m at http://www.bmracing.com/ . hth

short shifters are stupid, all they do is allow you to miss shitft and hurt your car.

Mr. observant

Maybe you should learn to shift properly.

apparently you have never driven a car with a light-weight flywheel. On my car w/ the 7.5lb. Cluthmasters flywhee, a short throw shifter greatly helps when trying to shift and not let the revs drop too much.

As for the B&M Pro edge, I think that housing piece allows some sort of height/throw adjustment, but I'm not sure.

You're right-

The housing on the pro-edge contains a bearing located by two snap rings. By changing which grooves the snap-rings are in, you can change the throw to one of three settings. The longest throw (I think) is like the B&M Edge. The shortest throw is wicked short. I have mine in the middle.

One note- when the Pro-Edge has been in for a while (3000 miles or so) it starts to rattle like a **** at certain rpm. It is not related to anything touching the exhaust system or anything like that. I so far have not found any cure for it.

Like VTechie said, the Pro shifter has the throw adjustment, and that's why it's more expensive. My brother has the edge, and I have the Pro, and he's always commenting on how shorter my throw is compared to his. I have it on the lowest setting though. But I have had mine on for about 10K miles, and it doesn't rattle at all. Not sure why your does.

u2 are morons, for one I have a lightened flywheel, and u dont have a 7.5lb flywheel, thats not streetable, anyhow short shifters are RICE, ur oem shifter is the best. Also short shifters dont throw ur syncros in ur tranny off, and mess up ur trans mission. Also when racing under extreme conditions say for instance; slowing down from 120mph in a straight into a 60 mph turn and u need to down shift in the turn its easy to miss shift with a short shifter.

Ok.. i really dont think he would lie or make up something about his flywheel... how are short shifters rice? So some of the finer producer of short shifters is rice? Skunk2? DC Sports? C's ?

Just because you dont like short shifters, doesnt mean other people dont either. If you want to have a precise and short shift, get a short shifter... if you like stock, stay with stock...
