Default 3rd Generation Prelude help?

i have a 88 prelude. it wasn't my car of choice, but it aint that bad. it has a stock b20a5 engine. i've got the basic bolt ons but i been lookin for a bigger boost. i was thinkin either internals(b20a5), v-tec(seen it on b20z), turbo, or complete swap. i have no idea where to start or if it's even possible with this old engine. Any suggestions. or comments?

and if the b20z or other crv engines can have vtec, shouldn't the b20a5 be able to have it?

3rd gens aren't bad cars at all.

N/A on the b20a's are hard from what I've heard... the best price : power ratio is either nitrous (bleh) or turbo (pshhh :D).

The b20a's are nothing like the b20z... or any other b-series motor for that matter. So clear your head of comparing them. VTEC on the b20a's are pointless... someone tried it, and here's the result: $2000 for 15whp.

You can turbo for around a grand, and be running high 14's/low 15's.

You can do an h22a swap for about $6,000 and be running same as turbo, but have a LOT of options.

http://www.preludepower.com has a LOT of 3rd gen luder's... any questions, they will more likely help you then people at H-T.

Turbo for a grand! Come on now. Hell, my exhaust mani, exhaust, gauges and lines cost more than that. Much less the turbo, IC piping, fuel pump, some way of getting more fuel etc. And then you will break a ring land eventually since that is generally the weak point of stock turboed honda engines. Granted, I made 210 WHP and the car was damn quick till the engine blew. But it is expensive. Budget 4k or more IMO.
