Thermal is the best way to go if you're not going custom. IM Damon@importparts.com for a good price.
The way I see it is like this: Some companies make one thing and specialize in it like Dynomax, Magnaflow, Flowmaster (ok, Flowmaster is a bad example since their stuff is total garbage and makes less power than some stock mufflers) but those are the companies that make the really good stuff.
Apexi and other companies make suspension products, turbo kits, exhaust, electronics. These aren't giant companies with endless resources for R&D (granted they aren't hillbillies either), so I wonder how good some of their stuff is. Nobody can be the best at everything, and most of these companies aren't the best at even one thing they do
Just my point of view though...could be flawed. Check your logic before purchasing
Anyway, no, Magnaflow will not be very quiet. Use a stock muffler if you want quiet. It's not buzzy, ricey, or annoying but my Civic was pretty throaty using a 3" Dynomax bullet (don't waste your money, get the "welded" round muffler from them instead) and a Magnaflow 3" race series muff. No free flowing exhaust that makes power will be quiet.

OKay I have a cat back Apex N1 with a test pipe. And I will say with the turbo on the car with the silencer the exhaust is ultra quite. When I take the silencer out the car is a bit louder but very bareable. As for being a sleeper I guess my car is still a sleeper because I don't really spool my motor that much and around where I live civic's and tegs with N1 style exhaust is common. But I plan to upgrade to 3" piping with 3" N1. But 2 guys on my team have Apex-i GT spec cat back and I think on factory turbo cars it's 3.5" and N/A car it's 3". So what I'm trying to say is Apex-i N1

ur wrong , all those companies that "specialize" specialize in mufflers , not exhaust , some have catbacks , but not for turbo imports.
i bet you think crush bent and mandrel bent produce the same performance huh?
invest in a good cat back system . or get mandrel bent piping and a nice muffler

I want a quiet sound too, and I thought about this.
I know a guy who has a apexi world sport on his accord and it's more quiet then the stock one, but they only do them in 2 1/4, I thought that I might get a exhaust that would look like this
3" to e-cutout, then a "Y" that get the 3" exhaust into 2 2"1/4 exhaust with apexi muff. so I would get good flow and pretty much quiet, but when needed bang e-cutout open then boom
it ain't that I want to show off or anything, it's just that those f****** cops are pretty much obsessed in some town around here. and when i'm coming back from the club or anywhere late or early in the morning I don't want the neighbors to hate me.
so what yall think about it?? it's on a accord 6th gen, so wouldn't look too stupid since the car is big and V6 have dual exhaust, as I said it ain't for the show it's for the pratical part

Magnaflow, dynomax are what I consider cheap stuff but hey it works. Companies like Apex'i, HKS make far superior exhausts compared to Magnaflow etc. (quality wise)
I cant think of a domestic company that has a mass production exhaust as nice as my 3-4 inch Apex'i megaphone exhaust. That being said exhausts are just pipes connected to a muffler and if you were on a budget route go for KTs custom stuff.

screw all those ....
get a stock exhaust and have a y-pipe made on the test pipe with an electronic cutout. nice and quiet all of the time but when you want to go fast, flick a switch and BAM ... open downpipe!
thats what i have and lemme tell you, it's the way to go

Ok Spoon boy, I've built more than my share of 500-600 HP cars long before people were installing turbos on Hondas. You can say "ur wrong" all you want, but you'd better have some track times and dyno numbers to back it up.
After I said "Just my point of view though...could be flawed. Check your logic before purchasing" there's no need to make feeble attempts to insult me.
If you like the Apex N1 and/or knockoff mufflers, go for it. I'll take a company that's been making top notch mufflers forever any day.
Now I don't think they suck, and they could even be better. Who's going to prove it? You? Your arguement is that they make mufflers and cat-back exhausts, but not for turbo imports? Well, I guess they wouldn't know anything about that. Most companies don't make them. Why? Because in the past their has not been much demand for them.
Then again, after all this ranting, as long as you have a perforated core, straight through 3" muffler, that's all that matters. Any of these will flow well, but if noise is what you're concerned about...that's a whole different story. In the end, you said the same thing I did. Get mandrel bent pipng and a nice muffler (nice muffler=Magnaflow).
LOL. You're just so good I might have to have you come out and build the engine for my Nissan.
