Default 4th or 5th gen prelude??

Im sort of new to the whole thing, but in your opinions, which generation of the prelude is the "best". as in which is the most customizable, can produce the most power ( granted they have the same engine codes..) wich one runs the fastest times stock, and which one handles better, stock.

Thanks For you time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

well... in opinion, the guys with the 4th gens are gonna say they're better, and the guys with the 5th gens say they're better, we all know the 4th gen is better in all honesty i've heard both have advantages, some people say the h22a1 produces more power and has better gear ratios with the tranny it comes with, as for customizable... what do you mean? engine mods? body kits? what what, fastest stock times, i think they run about the same considering they both weigh about 3000 lbs with a driver, and handling i'd say probably the 5th gen stock, the SH definatly, hope i helped

Thanks, that helped.

By customizable, I mean engine mods.

Thanks again

as far as engine mods, they're equal, as far as exhausts, they're about the same as well, either way for the H series you're gonna spend some cash cause it's not a civic or teggy (thank god), the h22a1 and h22a4 are the same engine, you can do the same upgrades, as far as exhuast, there are some companies that dont make parts for the 4th gen, and some that dont make part for the 5th gen, i'd say the 5th gen is easier to mod cause it's newer

I like both. I think the 5th gen is more spacious. If i was buying a Prelude as my primary car..I would get the 5th gen because it is newer and it only comes in VTEC.

I bought my 4th gen Si as a toy car so I don't mind as much. I have been getting pissed about some of the issues I am having with my car because of it's age. The two primary issues I am pissed about are the 4WS light coming on and my left front and rear speakers fading in and out. It is so annoying.

Most people tell me they like the 4th gen better than the 5th. I have never riden in a 5th Gen so I don't know. They are also surprised by the power my H23 non VTEC motor puts out too.

Hope this helps.

They're both great. I just recently saw a JDM 4th Gen Jun Prelude and I almost wet my pants. I own a 5th Gen and I love it.

They both have a lot of aftermarket support. Not as much as the B-series cars but for the most part, there's a lot to choose from.

I'm sure that the 5th Gen is probably more updated in little details because, after all, its about 5 years newer than the 4th Gens.

They both might as well be 2 seaters, because the back seats are only good for luggage or in extreme situations, a short trip for your least favorite friends.

In a drag race, I think the 4th Gens got an advantage. It is a little lighter. Structural rigidity is higher on the 5th Gen though.

It all comes down to your budget and basically how you like the looks of them. Because, as far as performance, they're very similar.

Not true. 4th Gens were a little lighter but 5th Gens had higher horsepower ratings so it kinda balances it out.

Save your money and buy a 4th gen. You should be able to pick up one with high miles but a good body for around $6,000 or maybe less. Then take the $10,000 you just saved and do what ever mods you want.

and by 'whatever mods you want', he means that 10 large can buy you the world on an h-series..especially an h22. they are strong n/a motors and can handle turbo if properly tuned..
i suggest a 4th gen vtec.. but that's just me. they are so much more sleek than the 5th gens.
