Biggest size pistons you can put in a B16 with out having to sleeve it??
I was just wondering what the biggest MM size pistons I could safely put in my block with out sleeving it? I have a STR block gard that I am going to use. Which should help. Also what is the highest compression you would run on pumped gas? We have 94 here so I was thinking 12:1 would still be safe. I just want to go ahead and thank you for your help.
12.0:1 will be fine. I plan do run a little over that when I rebuild my motor this winter.
Where in MD is St. Inigoes?

biggest is 82 on stock sleeves, safe would be 81.5 so you could service once more. I wouldn't go higher than 12:1 on 91, but even that's a waste of efforts. 11.5:1 is ideal as you won't have to throw timing into the fire as much.
thanks everyone. By the way St. Inigoes is in the southern part of MD.
Do you think it would be worth it to go ahead and get it sleeved and throw some 85-86 mm pistons in it?? I kind of wanted to do that but I was afraid it would cost alot more. It might just be cheaper to get a B18 block. any feed back would be great!

b18??? a/b/c1/5? If its on the street/daily driven...go with the 81.5 or 82mm bore. Me personally I would not want to resleeve a block and run it on the street. i agree on the 11.5:1 compression on pump gas, especially since you have 94 out there.

as i was told 13.1 is highest possible on pump gas and thats with a hondata and some good azz tuning..

anything is possiable.
but keep in mind, do you have that persons EXACT set up.
and do you have the same person tuning it.
13-1 on 91 is not easy, but it can happen. J&S safegaurd play a big part in compression that high on octane that low.
