GSR throttle body on d16y8
I just installed a GSR throttle body on my 98 civic ex which has the d16y8 in it. The installation was a piece of cake. I had to adjust my idle control screw to keep my idle where its supposed to be. But now, if I am driving and I push the clutch in or pull it out of gear, my rpms go to just over 2500 and hold there until I come to a complete stop, where it then drops down to normal idle speed. I'm gonna look at it some more later today, but would appreciate some feedback. Thanks guys.
I have a b20 TB and it does the same thing. I think the reason it does that is because of the throttle cable hitting your hood which causes the TB to open. Do you have the throttle cable mounted to the chassis?? Also my car really needs to warm up to get low idle. Hope this helps.
Cool someone else from Jax...I live in mandarin.
Anyway, I know people do this without problems. Sounds like the plate is sticking a bit. Try cleaning the thing out good and re-lubricating the moving parts.
Good luck!

It was sticking a bit, but i fixed that. I replaced the throttle body gasket thinking that maybe it was sucking some air through a leak, but that didn't fix it either. Need more help, thanks guys.
PS. Yea, I'm in Orange Park, a guy in my car club lives in Mandarin, he drives an black Integra LS with an Acura window banner. You ever go to the hangouts at 17 and Timicuana on Sat night at Winn Dixie?

Youve got a strange problem...bump for some help....
I'm new to Jax so no I am not aware of any of these hangouts...plus I'm 26 and I stopped hangin in parking lots a long time ago. I'm lookin for some auto x's...you been to any around here?

I know when I did my brakes my tb (stock) did the same thing... after fiddling with it for a while I fixed it by jiggling the throttle cable...
there was too sharp a bend in it so when it went to retract it was getting snagged and sticking... just try moving the throttle cable around a bit (still hooked into it's mount clip). That fixed it for me...

lol we dont stand there in the parking lot...we meet people to race... but no, sorry, dont know where an auto x's are.
hmm I might have too much slack in the cable, I'll try that out. if it doesnt work I'll be back. thanks guys

No, I am using the y8 gasket as the gsr tb did not come with one. no, the intake is not ported to match the throttle body. I think the problem is the throttle position sensor on the gsr throttle body is out of whack or something. anyone know how to change the tps on a throttle body?

buy the proper gasket first.

check the reference voltage , its easy to do.
center wire on the plug is the sensor output.

US spec engines have like an antitheft kinda screw holding the TPS in , you have to extract them by making a groove in the head of the screw and back it out from there.
I would check the voltage on the TPS first but I would lean towards IACV issues myself.

well I can feel a difference in the butt dyno, and anyways how am I supposed to port the piping for my intake? hehe, I've already change the IACV from my d series TB onto the B series one and that didn't solve it. I'm gonna take a dremel (or however you spell it) tool and make a slot in em in a few minutes and switch the throttle position sensor and if that doenst work I'm puttin the old throttle body back on.
I was thinking more towards a bad fast idle thermo switch myself , IACV related , should've been more specific.
I dont understand why you would switch TPS sensors instead of checking the reference voltage , you know you have to recalibrate anytime you remove a TPS anyway , so it makes sense to check the voltage before removal.
porting the Intake manifold isnt going to solve your problems at all , did you change to the proper TB gasket yet ?

TPS Voltage!
I had the same problem. GSR T-Body to Z6 manifold.

I had the same problem with my y8 revving to like 1500 until I came to a complete stop...I messed with my idle screw a little bit more and it solved the problem....also get some carb. cleaner and spray into you TB/IM to clean up the carbon build up....you can also take you IACV, which is on the back of your IM, off and spray some carb. cleaner on the screen in there....that's where the computer gets its read on how much the idle needs to be fixed....my .02 now I'm broke....and I need some gas.....good luck...

NA you might see a lil bit of diff.....but with a turbo I highly doubt that you will even notice it

I was just thinking about doing this on the way to work today!
Anyway, how soft is the metal on the itake manifold? Can it easily be ported with a Dremel tool while it's still attached, or should you remove the intake manifold for porting? Also, is it crucial to bleed the coolant lines?

um , yeah , just like that but the opposite.
