CRX Si information wanted
Hey everyone, I'm new and this is my first post. I've been reading a little bit around here about CRXs, mainly the Si models, and want to know some things. I know that the 1st gens are lighter, but the 2nd gen has more power. I dont like the looks of the 1st gens as much as the 2nd gens either. What I am trying to do is build a relatively quick car (14s, maybe 13s?) on a small budget without killer insurance costs. I know that I can take a 1st gen and put in a B16 and be there and whatnot, but I want to learn more before I jump into something. What would be the best year for me do you think? And it most definately has to be a 5 speed. So far I'm thinking a 88 due to weight, although it has less power. Help me please!
Well first you can use the search in the upper right hand corner or click here https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch and most if not all your questions would be answered.
As for saying about 88 cause its the lightest well in the 2nd gens yeah the 88 HF is the lightest but you were saying how it has less power what difference does that make if your planning a swap anyway?
But just for your info all the 88's-91's have around the same amount of power in each model (HF,DX,Si listed fom least to most) and thats in all 4 years.
*EDIT* one thing i noticed you said is you can take a 1st gen and put a B16 in it while yes its possible but it would be a lot easier to put the B16 into a 2nd gen. Also its much easier to start with one of the models that has MPFI already which would be the HF's and the Si's that would be less wiring issues that you would have to deal with.
