hahahah what exactly is the problem with no check engine light? does it make u feel insecure that theres nothing wrong with your car?
yea check engine light is only good in the sense that it tells you what the hell is wrong with your motor,...but technically the check light is a bad thing when on because,..well,..something is wrong with your motor
If the car is an 01 it may be under warranty still. Depending on if your mileage is over 36k or maybe you have the extended warranty.
So, when you turn the key to the "ON" position before starting the car the light doesn't come on for a few seconds then go off????????????
Have you done anything to the cluster? Done anything to the car?

My check engine light came on once......
so I pulled over, popped the hood...and damn!!!
The engine was still there! check!
For some reason the light stayed on, but I didn't need to check anymore, the engine was still there!

I have the same problem my friend... it was a burnt resistor on the ecu. It took me 1 month to find it, i checked all the manuals, I post it here, I took it to 2 specialists but i found it myself. The resistor became blackand I coultn't read how Ohms was it so i fount some pictures from the internet I zoom them and i read the resistor.
I hope that it will help.
