I'm new to honda-tech so please bear with me. I was hoping someone out there can help me out.
So here is my situation, I just had a B18C1 put into my 94 EJ Si. I'm trying to find out more about my motor such as the year and history through the VIN. So far, what I've found is the block is stamped 9|4 meaning this is from a 95 GSR. (correct me if I'm wrong) My question now is that since it is an OBD-1, should there be a VIN plate on the bottom of the block, near the oil pan below the headers? I've tried cleaning up the gunk and have found nothing. After using the search some people have mentioned that Honda did not start placing VIN plates until 96 on the OBD-2 motors. Can somebody clarify this?

on me for not doing this before my swap

yes 96 and up have the vin on the bottom of the blocks.

there are no vin numbers on the 94-95 gsr motors, the only way you can tell about the motor is though the block number. this is not an easy process, i believe you can take the number to any law enforcement office and they will run it for you only if you have the motor there.(dont quote me on this i could be wrong). lucky for me i have a friend whos a cop, i gave him the block number, a week later he told me the motor is clean. peace

EJ1... Canadian EX's are called Si's.

Anyone with any other ideas about how I can track the history of my motor. As for the number below the engine code (serial number - i think), is there any meaning to it like the VIN number?
