R&R crankshaft and pistons on a B18B. What's the best way to do it?
I need to remove and reinstall the crankshaft and pistons on my B18B. Does that require pulling the engine out of the car? I'm thinking that I can do the crankshaft with it still in the car, but I've never done this before so I don't know. How exactly do I pull the crankshaft out? I would assume that I just have to disconnect the stuff on the ends of it (ie flywheel, crank pulley, timing belt pulley), then the bearings and stuff, right?
And with the crankshaft out of there, is it possible to remove and reinstall the pistons and rods? I'm mainly wondering if it's possible to get a ring compressor up as far as I need it to be to install the pistons?
Thanks

Could you explain why? I'm not understanding what is preventing the crankshaft from coming out while the engine is still in the car.

if the crank is going out, then the whole motor is going out, its just easier that way. or if youre hell bent on doing it with the motor in the car, then the tranny and head has to come off and that just leaves you with a really awkward position later one to work on it
