Default cooling fan and condensor fan somehow related?

I don't have my manual with me and i don't have any tools either but my cooling fan isn't running. I took my A/C out about a month ago and i haven't had any cooling problems until yesterday when i was in stop and go traffic.
So i was wondering is the A/C harness anyway linked to the cooling fan harness? I looked at the wiring schematic and i didn't think it was (but i didn't understand it 100%). Since im tool-less for a while is there anything i can do like possibly touch the two wires that go on the thermoswitch and see if that turns on the fan or anything of that nature?

make sure the fan still works by jumping the wires straight off the battery. if the fan still works check the fuse, check the wiring, check the fan switch. it should not be linked to your ac fan at all. but what do i know? i dont have ac.

Jump the wires that go to the thermoswitch on the back of the block. See if the fan then comes on. If it does than get a new thermoswitch, if it doesn't check the relay for the fan, and connect the fan to a power source to see if the motor gave up or something.
