Idle not raising with A/C, why?

Idle not raising with A/C, why?
I had my A/C system recharged this morning and when I put the A/C on, the idle doesn't raise up a little and the car starts to shake due to the extra load... anybody knows what could cause this?
the weird thing is that before having it recharged, I bypassed the pressure switch and the A/C worked and the idle got up... why it isn't doing it now?

Did you recharge the system yourself or di dyou bring it in to a professional?
If you did it yourself, did you use a pressure guage when your were recharging the system?

it was recharged by a professional... and I don't really want to go back... how to check/cure it myself?
